I feel their may be some truth to this, especially as this would coincide with the emails going out to recent admits today informing them of a 10% rise in the application pool. This also may be an effort to offset any negative perceptions about GULC in regard to the departure of their Dean Alex Aleinikoff, something that was announced just yesterday.
That being said, I think it would make a lot of sense to release rejection emails late on a Friday afternoon as the weekend would give applicants a chance to "chill" which would result in a decrease in the amount of time admissions would have to spend on the phone with irate applicants.
