Heh, that looks like my cycle from two years ago. Speaking from experience their app was probably pretty bad. I thought my app was good, but I look back at everything that wasn't my GPA/lsat and cringe
This sort of freaks me out. As an undergrad who didn't work much and wasn't too involved in extracurriculars, I'm scared that although my numbers are solid, I'll get dinged because I don't have anything too impressive on my app
I wouldn't be too scared (I mean if it lights a fire more power to you), as long as you put in the effort on the other parts of your app you should be fine. I was also like 20 when I was applying so I was even less mature than traditional k-jds.

Feel free to PM me if you still have apps outstanding and want to discuss specifics (especially fsu related)

I'm 21, so not much older than you lol. All of my apps are done. Put a decent amount of time into my apps but I didn't want to overthink things, especially my PS which I feel like I'd make a million changes if I did and never end up satisfied

terrifying. There was someone last year with my same lsat and less than .05 lower gpa whose cycle terrified me. WL/reject at every t14 except GULC. Just way too close to home numbers-wise, and I didn't apply to GULC! Every app is different. For the person you posted, I think we have to assume a terrible application.

Nope, I went with a personal growth theme on my PS. Was a complete ass/underachiever in high school and turned that around completely in college

Is this new set of data still as whacked as the last one?
So based on the comparison between the % changes for each score and those for each score band, it looks like this set of % changes was calculated as (Current#-Previous#)/Previous# ... which is correct.

But idk how to explain results like the # of 180s dropping from 22 to 15

eta: but Mr. Spivey has said before:
Every year there are a few weird percentage results, and every years LSAC has an explanation for them fyi (different dates compared, different metric, etc). So *likely* they aren't as weird as they seem
There are a number of other drops: 169 (507 to 323!), 171, 174, 176

Will be interested to see if an explanation is offered.
I was thinking - Maybe it refers to the number of *active* applicants? By active I mean applicants who still have apps pending at one or more schools. So if the people with 180s got accepted to a school, comitted to that school, and withdrew the rest of their apps, then maybe theyre not being counted among the applicants anymore? Same would apply for anyone who got accepted ED, for example.

Just a theory though. I've already bothered Spivey and Co. with a different question about the data, but someone else can ask whatsup if they're interested...
ok, so spivey seems to have gotten to the bottom of the data weirdness:

Conspiracy theory, Spivey killed a bunch of high scorers so that the January data was accurate.

I really wouldn't worry about that as long as you have the numbers. I think the people who get dinged due to these things have REALLY horrific LORs or Personal Statements. If you have great numbers, just having average extracurriculars shouldn't hurt you for most schools. (Just my experience in speaking with adcomms)

Yeah that was the point I was trying to make. I didn't want to scare anyone, merely saying that I look back and can see that my app was really bad.

Unless you wrote about how you always wanted to be a lawyer, ignored all why x essays, never took your resume to any impartial review, and had lors from your partime campus job and an adjunct, then these results will probably not reflect yours

When I get fed up with waiting for law schools and checking status checkers, I move to obsessively searching for apartments in the cities in which I applied. This is both exciting and very depressing because I will almost certainly be moving to a city with much higher COL when I start school. Like, my rent will double and my square footage will shrink. (doesn't help that I have a dog who I refuse to give up)

I'm looking at Ann Arbor right now, and I am salivating at the idea of living a 10 min walk away from campus for less than I pay now. Also animal-restricted. I can't imagine not having him, though! What would even be the point?

My dad was an adcomm for awhile and my favorite stories were the LORs from Senators, Congressmen, or other people that the applicant probably thought looked "important" that said "Well, I've actually never met so and so, but I've met his father, and his father is a great man.. So I think that so and so is probably great, too!".

Where are y'all looking? I used apartments.com and was shocked at the prices/had no idea how anyone was able to afford it. Then I found out that a lot of people actually used craigslist - if you can dig, you might be able to find something good!

Pitbull/lab mix (rescue). But I will emphasize the lab and pretend I don't know about the pit when I am apartment searching  Hoping I can get my current landlord to write a letter of recommendation for my dog (lol!) as well, because he is seriously the EASIEST/best dog ever. Does not bark ever, or make other kinds of noise. Doesn't chew furniture (only stuff he gets into is garbage if we leave it within his reach). Is obsessed with all people and will be your best friend instantly upon meeting you.

Yeah, I was looking at Ann Arbor and I found some places that would be GREAT, allow dogs, and would be only a couple hundred more than I'm paying now. Not within walking distance of campus though :/

Worst case scenario, if I absolutely cannot find somewhere to live with my dog, I will force my brother to take him for three years until I graduate lol. I won't give him up! He's my best friend (don't tell my husband).

That should definitely help! A lot of smaller landlords/not corporations don't advertise on the bigger websites and only do things like Craigslist, Facebook, etc. My stepmom is a landlord with some very nice and affordable places but she gets enough traffic that she doesn't pay to advertise on the bigger sites. Good luck! :)

I incorporated a small "Why X" paragraph into my personal statement for my top choice, because I know they tend to be a backup plan for a lot of people who don't get the T14/don't get any scholarship money from the T14. I wanted them to know they are my top choice and if accepted (with $$!), I plan to attend.

I didn't write a Why X for other schools, and it hasn't hurt me so far - however, I didn't apply anywhere in the top 10 or anything.

they are definitely NOT saying that. A why x is in addition to a PS, not in place of one.
