The only thing keeping me checking is a magical acceptance. Wherein, my response would be:

Then I'd feel all cool, forget about my "forgotten" confidants, and be like this with my new "accepted" friends:

So LSAT at the median?Minesweeper wrote:Michigan 1L here. My buddy is 3.6/169 and he's here. Have hope man. Have hope.jimmy_dean wrote:finally went complete today (applied 1/15). but not getting my hopes up (167/3.69).
Not that surprising that he got in. How about someone with an LSAT two points below median?

Bro, schools accept people below both medians everywhere. It's less likely but don't count yourself out yet. Especially with apps down and shit, keep your head up playa

I have a hard time believing schools frequently accept people under BOTH medians if non-URM and baring exceptional softs. For regular bros that is a death sentence usually. Unless they have to drop medians in which case you are now at or above at least one median...LRGhost wrote:Bro, schools accept people below both medians everywhere. Also if that was meant to give me hope, there is no hope for me. I am at or above both medians. But I am a Forgotten. Such is our lot.
Luckily I can take solace in the fact that the Forgotten will never forget the Forgotten. Except Kanye. He's gonna forget the shit out of us when he gets accepted.

FWIW dude if you're at or above median and you haven't heard anything, it could be a variety of things but I wouldn't say you're out. And yeah man, schools do take people below medians. Maybe not FAR down but they definitely do. I just think all this stuff about 'x school hasn't gotten back to me but others who submitted last week are in' is a bit overblown. Yeah, you're still waiting, but you know how LS admissions goes. It's very transparent. If your numbers are there, you're more than likely good.

I keep forgetting about my own application, so I'm not surprised that Michigan has. Maybe in a few years I will meet someone named Ann and I will be like, Ann... Ann... there was something about an Ann once. Ann Ardor? Well, it's gone.

I'm well below LSAT, just shy of GPA median, not an URM but a UMICH Alum/mich resident. I have some really good softs, but still i've been waiting on schools like UVA, W&M, UMich, BC/BU, GTown, UCLA for months. I'm sure it's all for the WL b/c T5s were quick to deny. But who knows. I think this year they are actually taking a more 'holistic" look at their applicants.LRGhost wrote:FWIW dude if you're at or above median and you haven't heard anything, it could be a variety of things but I wouldn't say you're out. I'm particularly interested in the negotiation aspect of this. I asked this a while back but nobody had any experience. They say they don't negotiate, but I really have a hard time believing that. I'd be interested to see if they respond to your offers -- my guess is they would.az21833 wrote:received 30k dean scholly via asw. couple questions

What is your basis for saying this about Michigan's financial aid? Or are you just making a general statement?UMich11 wrote:Everything is negotiable.cwid1391 wrote:I'm particularly interested in the negotiation aspect of this. Simply a general statement. I mean it's true though, everything is truly negotiable, you just have to know the right things to say. Only issue is, the School is full of lawyers and you're not one, yet.fallingup wrote:What is your basis for saying this about Michigan's financial aid? Re: Michigan (AKA Hogwarts) c/o 2016 Applicants Thread 2012-2013
while on the subject of negotiating, I could use some advice about petitioning Michigan for $. So, it's been about a month since I got in miraculously, and I haven't received any scholarship offers on the accepted student's website. I mean, and at a 169/3.16/Non-URM, I'm not sure I could get much from them. Would it make any sense to let them know right now of my commitment to Michigan if I got some $? Should I wait to see what all my other offers are from other schools before trying to leverage? I really am serious about Michigan, but I for REAL can't go over 200k in debt in the process.

Does anyone know how long after submitting the need-based application (which still isn't available) you can expect a need-based offer to be made, if any? I tried to gain some insight via past cycles, but no luck.

IIRC, they say they don't negotiate but they have hours during ASW to discuss financial aid, so take that for what it's worth.
If you both (nsideirish and wphilly) don't mind sharing when you submitted and if you had any softs or anything special?

I'm a 169/3.6. 2 years of pretty good WE. A lot of community service but nothing too spectacular.LRGhost wrote:IIRC, they say they don't negotiate but they have hours during ASW to discuss financial aid, so take that for what it's worth.
