now THAT is some arguably useful quanting lol, and loving the optimism.sonofshaprut wrote:Definitely more than 10, especially if you count people who will get in off the WL. The final size of a previous class year's FB group is around 260, and yls 2017 is at 224 now. It's also probably safe to assume that some people leave the FB group once they either defer or decide to go to another school.nutellahero wrote:
Any guesses on how many acceptances are left? <10?
congratulations to last night's admits btw, those are some killer numbers and if anyone had reason to be confident even in April it was you guys

What time tonight do we think they will send emails? Although it might be useless to guess since they were emailing at 11-something last night

Nah. They said a few today, and we only know of one. Plus it seems like there'll be a trickle til Friday based on twitter updates which are much more reliable than the Almanac-style predictioneering of TLSers

Re: Yale c/o 2017 Applicants (2013-2014 cycle)
Fair enough, I guess it's my pessimism kicking in that I interpreted the tweet as forecasting a few admits today and then the "rest of decisions" (WL/dings) for the rest of the week.AJS915 wrote:Nah. I like your interpretation better

FWIW, there have been 10 additions to the FB group since this morning. The last was about 15 minutes ago, so perhaps they're still going..

Re: Yale c/o 2017 Applicants (2013-2014 cycle)
I don't think I'm being especially optimistic, if that helps you feel more optimistic about it lol. None of the other times that same twitter said "a few admits today" did I interpret it to imply an unspoken "AND THEN THATS ALL FOLKS!"
People managed to make me paranoid for a few moments by over analyzing the potential for a glorious finale in the form of a smashing pumpkins classic, but I suspect when the last straight admit is admitted there will be some sort of announcement to that effect given the transparency thus far. Something like "and now for the wait list..." Possibly accompanied by a link to bad idea jeans involving the wait list and how to secure yourself a rejection with stalkery letters.

Do we have a baseless speculation guess on if there will be happy emails tonight?

Yeah I have to say, I'm normally glass half full about this stuff, but it just feels like we're headed toward rejection and waitlist territory. All signs seem to point that way.politics89 wrote:I'm pretty pessimistic at this point.wtrc wrote:Do we have a baseless speculation guess on if there will be happy emails tonight?

Yes, okay, things might look bleak, but today is the last day before their admitted students program. I'm predicting a biggish wave of admits!

I think it's funny that I applied to Yale a couple of days before the deadline...and yet I will still most assuredly hear back from YLS before I (and about 130 other people) hear back from Stanford!
