I'm not (nor will I, most likely be) attending Harvard, but I live in Cambridge, and you're talking about J.P. Licks. Delicious ice cream! Sometimes after work, I'll stop by and get myself a black raspberry milkshake. It's divine.Bearlyalive wrote:It would be awesome to go to Broadway shows during all that spare 1L timeLi'l Sebastian wrote:For the record the musical discussion was substantive because it's a real reason that could influence attendance decisions!
But seriously, it would.
And to answer an above question, yes, the rail lines do go from Boston to New York. And it's cheap, and probably only 3-4 hours. But there is a downside: you have to pass through *glances left and right* *whispers* New Haven.
So... +1 for Columbia/NYU? Wait, this is the HLS thread... ummm... at least we have Boston deserts and awesome Italian food?
BTW, slight digression, but for any of you that have already visited, did you stop by the little ice cream shop on the main shop avenue in Harvard Square? I don't remember the name, but I went there for desert after Italian food on the North End, and had what was by and far the best ice cream cookie sandwich of my life. Maple butter walnut ice cream between two ginger spiced cookies. Phenomenal.

While I admit that New Haven pizza is delicious (if anyone visits, go to Pepe's Pizza and get the clam pizza, trust me), tread carefully. If you're going to New York right after and you're still going on about New Haven pizza, you're not gunna have a fun time. New Yorkers are VERY proud of their pizza.schocolate wrote:Going through New Haven just means you have take a delicious pizza break on your way to shows in New York. ETA: case in point, when I was visiting New Haven I talked to a Yale Ph.D student who was originally from NYC. I asked him who had the better pizza, and got a very dirty look.

If I'm full of New Haven style pizza, I can take on anything. My SO lives in New Haven, and I just visit for the pizza now.Bearlyalive wrote:

I expected nothing from admissions today but I'm still disappointed.

I feel that. I'm a mid-Jan JS1 and I keep hoping for the earlier JS1s to get JS2s so that I get moved up the queue.Li'l Sebastian wrote:I expected nothing from admissions today but I'm still disappointed.

I'll give this an aye, but in Sebastian's defense, we established earlier that his shitposting is altruistic.barley wrote:Perhaps people should take the shitpoasting to the Compendium instead... I think the last bunch of JS2s were a Friday. When I got mine, I remember it was a Friday because I worked late.Li'l Sebastian wrote:Thank you Winter!

To add more fuel to the fire of speculation that burns in our hearts, the last wave of JS2s (1/14 and 1/15) came out the day after a wave of decisions from Chicago (1/13).
Chicago had a wave today...

Complete late November, no JS1! Been accepted to CCN too
I know that I'm borderline acceptance/waitlist material, and that as a splitter Harvard must be timing me out to leverage the fact that there has been an increase in 175+ applicants... nonetheless, this has all been very disheartening
