Re: Harvard c/o 2018 Applicants (2014-2015 Cycle)
That makes a lot of sense. I think there are three 'estimates'.foles wrote:Well there were 175 JS1s reported in the thread last year (excluding those who reported JS2s/WLs/dings but not JS1s) so if the trend holds this year, that would mean 686 JS1s given out so far this year?pylon wrote:Fun fact: With that last post, we have now reached 100 reported JS1s on TLS in this thread!!!! Anyone want to guess how many total JS1s that means they've given out?
One is what you said. Two would be to include the JS2s from last year, because they inevitably received a JS1. This means there were 247 JS1s last year, which would mean 486 JS1s given out so far (but it might not be accurate because the same trend could happen this year with people reporting JS2 and no JS1). And three, HorseThief and others running count of available interview slots, however I'm not sure it's been kept up to date and I can't remember it being more than 350.
350-686. Basically, I have no clue ahah.

I'm a late October submit with LSAT and GPA between 50th and 25th percentile. No ding today... (knock on wood). Any reason to hold out hope for JS1 at this point?

Dinged today via email. Not a surprise at all because I didn't have JS1. Fortunately, I happen to not be sad at all. Condolences to those of you who actually had a shot and didn't get in! Good luck to all those still waiting!!

they appear to be fishing for LSATs at this point - every JS2 i've seen has had LSAT≥173. correct me if i'm wrong.
sorry to the dings, but you will surely have great options anyway.

I can't promise there's any reason, but I'm still holding out hope for a JS1. Splitter, submitted early October.twitterati wrote:I'm a late October submit with LSAT and GPA between 50th and 25th percentile. No ding today... (knock on wood). Any reason to hold out hope for JS1 at this point?

There was someone in the last wave who submitted mid October. He is who I am clinging to for hope.downbeat14 wrote:Sorry to all the dings. I'm getting more and more anxious about getting the ding now. Submitted day one, above 75th LSAT but only @25th GPA... not a chirp. Should we assume no JS1=out of contention at this point? Anyone, submit early and not get a JS1 until Jan this cycle?

Even by the largest of Pylon's estimates above, they have conducted about half of the JS1s that they're expected to conduct. I'm hoping that they'll start new rounds of JS1s for the people with slightly less good numbers in the coming weeks.downbeat14 wrote:Sorry to all the dings. Re: Harvard c/o 2018 Applicants (2014-2015 Cycle)
You have better stats than me (75th LSAT, <25th GPA) and I got a JS2 yesterday so don't worry about your numbers! You're definitely still in the game and they seem to be favoring high LSAT this cycledownbeat14 wrote:Sorry to all the dings. I'm getting more and more anxious about getting the ding now. Re: Harvard c/o 2018 Applicants (2014-2015 Cycle)
Seems to me at at this stage they're going through applications, picking out the high LSAT/25th% GPA+ apps and admitting those applicants (auto admits?). Then they're going back and sifting through the median-ish LSATs and deciding.
So given that we saw a wave of rejections today, I'd assume we'll see a wave of JS2s tomorrow or Fri?

It's embarrassing how happy I am about just not getting dinged.
Also: I'm so sorry about those who did! Like every else said, you'll have plenty of other amazing choices.

You think? I think it will be a minute. They could have spent more time making calls yesterday if they had finished evaluating more candidates.mpc347 wrote:Seems to me at at this stage they're going through applications, picking out the high LSAT/25th% GPA+ apps and admitting those applicants (auto admits?). Re: Harvard c/o 2018 Applicants (2014-2015 Cycle)
I don't know. Almost all of that JS2 wave were people with LSATs above median. Comparatively little at or below median. I'd have to assume that they picked out the applicants above median yesterday and are going back through the rest of the pile today (hence the trickle of dings today?).Kobaine51 wrote:You think? Quite a few applicants who had JS1's and are above medians are still waiting, I wouldn't jump to any conclusions that specific.mpc347 wrote:I don't know.
