I swear to god, in the last week alone I've had emails waiving fees or promising expedited consideration for scholarships from freakin' Creighton, Syracuse, University of Idaho, W&M (x 2), Michigan State (x 2), Mason, Northeastern, Tulsa, UMaine, Barry Law (? is this a real school?) Penn State (x 2), UKansas, Regent Law, Akron, Irvine, Valpa-fucking-raiso, and that doesn't count the ones I rage deleted before they had a chance to become one with my inbox.

I unsubscribe when I can remember, but then a new school pops up promising cheap tuition and a wonderful job and honestly very little chance of suicide.

Question for everyone:

Does anyone have experience with CLEP testing and how they appear on your transcript? I hear that they are included in your school transcript when they're sent over from the school, but I noticed that my cumulative hours aren't as much as how many I actually have. I have 15 hours of CLEP credit. Do I need to have a transcript sent from the CLEP people?

According to MC Law's official 2013 ABA-required disclosures, 51.9% of the Class of 2013 obtained full-time, long-term, JD-required employment nine months after graduation.

Please stop applying to TTTTs and just retake or don't go. No one should go to that school even with a full ride, half of students can not even find any job as a lawyer

Why does this matter to you so much. I'm genuinely curious. I'm not saying you're wrong, but you work awfully hard to dissuade people from going to any school not T14, and even then, they need at least a 1/2 sholly or something. There are worse things you could do with your life. Why don't you go stand out on the street telling high school drop outs to not smoke too much weed, and that they should retake the SAT and apply to college. Then advise them on the lowest-cost method for getting the degree they need to get the job they want. You'll have the same effect. Just let that kid smoke his weed it's what he's decided to do.

Why do you spend your time shitposting about people giving good advice?

And no, not everyone needs to go to a T14, if he wanted to work in Mississippi and got a good scholarship to Ole Miss that would be a fine decision.

MC Law is literally one of the bottom TTTTs in the entire legal system, no one on TLS should ever advise someone to go there. If someone posted in this thread about the dope scholarship they got at Cooley, it seems reasonable that someone would try to steer them straight.

Mr. Hopper is a regular TLSer. he def knows the common wisdom, and if he's chosen to ignore it up til this point, I doubt he'll be convinced by one more "retake." a full ride to a school like MC might not end with a job, but at least it won't end in life-ruining debt

I go to MC undergrad. Their law program is actually getting better; they are working really hard to raise their rankings. They just got a new dean with a lot of experience. I know MC has a bad rep on here, but I personally know a lot of the graduates from there and they all say they loved their time there. One of our judges graduated from there and several attorneys. One of my friends just got a job from there making $100k year starting out. So, it isn't like going there is the worst thing ever. I'm actually proud of my undergrad degree (when I graduate in May). It is a well respected institution around here.

Thank you James, Kaycee, Xylo, and PBJ. All I'm doing ITT is listing acceptances/scholarship information as that news arrives, similarly to other people ITT. My pending February retake as well as what, why, and how I pick which school I will attend for 2015 matriculation are not yet in play for me to act upon.

That's what I gained from your post.

If you have any more questions about MC or the area, I can probably answer them. I do mock trial and am at the law school there a lot of the time.

Good luck on your cycle.

I have also known a lot of MC graduates who are doing very well. Not to say that that applies to every student who graduates from there, obviously, but it is a fairly respected institution within the state.

And in Louisiana (the northern and central part anyways). They're the only other school out of the state that provides courses in civil law for those wanting to practice in LA.

I noticed google inbox has been quietly filtering out CRS spam schools to the spam folder, while schools that I'm interested in/applied to are going to my inbox. Thank godddd. I think this may be a result of the email service learning my preferences from my (1) never opening emails from schools like valpo and (2) religiously sending them to the spam folder manually at first. As a sidenote, I have a couple of invites to inbox left so if anyone wants them, PM me!

Curious how you guys are feeling about withdrawing from some schools, and when/how to do that.

I've had absolutely no movement from Georgetown/Berkeley/Michigan since going complete, and at this point, would not consider attending any of the three even with a full-tuition scholarship. If I can rule them out, and they're clearly not super eager to admit me (presumably for YP purposes), is it worth it for me to withdraw now, or would that be a mistake? My main argument for not withdrawing is for scholarship negotiation purposes, but with the Dillard in my back pocket, and given how I've been received by these three schools, it does not strike me as worth it to keep hanging on.

For me, NYU and UVA are both preferences over all three schools, and I'm still waiting for Harvard, Yale, Chicago, and Columbia. Think I should pull out now, or wait a bit? I know The Argus mentioned over in the HLS thread withdrawing from some schools, figured I'd raise the question here (not sure if there's already a committed thread for it somewhere, if so, I apologize).

I'll make my withdrawal conditional, then. "Let DrSpaceman in or I'm going to continue sitting in your YP pile, taking up space, until April." They'll probably cave, I have a lot of leverage.

And thanks :)

Personally I don't see any advantage to keeping your app in consideration. You won't attend these schools and I don't see how anything they give you would be more valuable for negotiation purposes than the scholarship UVA already gave you.

On the other hand, you lose nothing by waiting it out. You already paid the fee, why not wait for an actual decision? Good luck with whatever you decide.

The reason to withdraw from Berkeley and Georgetown is that they are extremely unlikely to give you $$$.

I don't think the same applies to Mich; then I think it comes down to whether scholarships from peer schools have marginal value.

Fwiw, this cycle is kinda weird, and it's really pretty early, so I would be more hesitant to conjecture about what it means that you haven't had movement. You might still hear back (or they might not admit you for reasons other than YP...) Then again this is TLS and no one seems to be able to do that haha

But I think not withdrawing just because you're hoping for good feels is sorta silly (and not that nice to other applicants); you're really right, we should probably all withdraw way sooner than people seem to

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
