Congrats on NYU and UChicago. This is ridiculous by Penn, are they expecting a 100% yield this cycle?mylifeis24 wrote:Wait listed as wellFirst non-acceptance of the cycle. Sucks, because Penn Law was one of my top 3 by far.
RD. UR1 12/3, UR2 1/16. 3.71. 172. Why Penn.
I'll be riding the wait-list until I hear back from NYU and Chicago about money and Columbia about decision/money. Good luck to the rest of you.

Re: Penn c/o 2017 Applicants (2013-2014 cycle)
Haha I've rambled on this in many threads ad naseum. But the basic theory is that now that a 169 is a median LSAT, there are more applicants available for penn to maintain it's LSAT median and either keep it's GPA median or increase it. It hurts splitters with 170+jk148706 wrote:Elaborate plzlawschool22 wrote:I'm telling you guys it's that 169 causing all sorts of issues.
LSATs most. Now they can pick the 169 median GPA kid over the 170/below median person.
Put simply there are now more people at or above both medians, so penn can pass over the 170+ splitter.

Re: Penn c/o 2017 Applicants (2013-2014 cycle)
I'd think a 169/168 splitter would also be picked over a 170+ splitter due to yield and scholarship worries. Especially since the 75ths have dropped to 170 and 169 at so many t-14s

Waitlisted 90 minutes ago. 168/3.77. Not surprised or disappointed, since it's exactly what I expected and there's no way I would take Penn at sticker over the other options I have considering what I want to do post-law school. At this point I'm wondering whether I should accept a spot on the waitlist or decline to give a better chance to someone who really wants Penn.

If you don't think you'll get money from penn, there's no point in riding out the wait list, since you would not be able to leverage any eventual offer.

That has to be YP. Non-URM 169s with lower GPAs than you have gotten in so far this cycle. But with those numbers you'll definitely have a great option.jdapplicant wrote:Waitlisted and not sure if I'm going to ride it.

I'm definitely leaning towards that direction. The lack of money plus the fact that I'd probably be in limbo through part of the summer is definitely not attractive. Plus there's the fact that many WLed people have better stats than I do.lawschool22 wrote:Sorry to hearKing Cayuga wrote:Waitlisted 90 minutes ago. 168/3.77. WL as well :/
172/3.62, very compelling (or so I thought) Why Penn
UR 12/3, 1/16
This on top of WL from Chicago and denial from Berkeley have made this a rough week. Looks like NYU it might have to be! Unless Columbia has something to say about it.

Is being held the same thing as wait-list? I want to make sure I'm interpreting the email I got correctly. My email says they decided to hold my file for further review.
LSAT>50, GPA >75th for reference.

Waitlisted.
UR1: 11/22
UR2: 1/23
No "Why Penn"
3.6x 174
Not sure if I'm going to ride the waitlist. I'd be more disappointed, but getting into Chicago this week cushioned the blow.
