are they reserving people specifically to offer them Hamilton's later? why dont they ever trickle them down to students that have gotten in? put otherwise, why dont they just let the people in and give them hamiltons later when they become available? this theory makes no sense.

Re: Columbia c/o 2016 Applicants (2012-2013)
Very doubtful. I think the only people thinking they might still get a Hamilton are the people with very high numbers who have not yet received a NCE or a Reserve email. None of the people who are placed on Reserve should be expecting an acceptance, nevermind a full or half scholarship.az21833 wrote:are they reserving people specifically to offer them Hamilton's later? why dont they ever trickle them down to students that have gotten in? put otherwise, why dont they just let the people in and give them hamiltons later when they become available? this theory makes no sense.

Re: Columbia c/o 2016 Applicants (2012-2013)
whoops, i did not mean reserving, i just meant not-responding. there seems to be a lot of people with high lsat who applied early and have not heard back. i heard some others posit that they are likely hamilton butler recipients when the current recipients decline and this was just in response to that. i don't get why they don't let them in and award them money later, or award the trickle down money to those who were admitted at sticker?

Not that this makes the pain of being reserved or ignored any easier, but I thought this was interesting. I agree with the article --I would expect more from a school of Columbia's stature in this situation.

I left it blank. As far as I know we don't have one yet. And even if we did, something on that page indicated to me that it was for students reapplying for aid. Not for those applying for the first time as 0Ls.az21833 wrote:hey has anybody filled out the finaid questionaire? whats our Columbia ID on page 3?

Az, why are you so on top of things? You've inspired me to fill out all my FinAid tonight
As for holding people for butlers/hamiltons, I had the same thought when NCEs first started trickling but LSN made it pretty apparent they have never done this before.

Just to be clear, are you saying LSN data shows that few or no Hammys/Butlers come out after the first huge wave of acceptances, or that there are none for people who are put on reserve?sinfiery wrote:As for holding people for butlers/hamiltons, I had the same thought when NCEs first started trickling but LSN made it pretty apparent they have never done this before.
Sorry I could look for myself but LSN is still incredibly slow on my phone...

I feel like the 2/7 wave of NCEs was microscopic. They're getting smaller and smaller. I want to cry.

Re: Columbia c/o 2016 Applicants (2012-2013)
It's not, there's another school in New York that I'm pretty fond of, but I (maybe naively) thought that I would get into CLS and would at least have some choices since I definitely want to be in NY, so having the NCEs slow down without hearing anything from them is taking a wrecking ball to my confidence. There are also so many other people with highly competitive numbers, and who applied earlier, still waiting, that I just generally don't understand what's going on. If the 175s/3.8s+ among us haven't heard, I feel very pessimistic about my chances.toothbrush wrote:is cls your number 1 ?ph5354a wrote:I feel like the 2/7 wave of NCEs was microscopic. Well.. I'm from NY and want to stay in NY and would love to go to the NY schools. But my numbers aren't as strong as you. And I haven't heard back. But meh. C'est la vie. You'll hear back in time and are bound to catch either cls or nyu.ph5354a wrote:It's not, there's another school in New York that I'm pretty fond of, but I (maybe naively) thought that I would get into CLS and would at least have some choices since I definitely want to be in NY, so having the NCEs slow down without hearing anything from them is taking a wrecking ball to my confidence. I think I looked at the last 2 or so years and all butlers/hammiltons were either awarded in the first batch or awarded to those with late submit dates.GertrudeR wrote: Just to be clear, are you saying LSN data shows that few or no Hammys/Butlers come out after the first huge wave of acceptances, or that there are none for people who are put on reserve?

I can't recall if I found even 1 anomily so unless they are changing their stipulations for these scholarships (ie. Giving them out until x amount are accepted), odds are that if you get in from now on, it will be without an initial scholarship offer.
I'm not gonna recheck for the same reasons though, hah. Phone + slow lsn

hmm I submitted before I received the housing email, so not sure I had access to that number prior. oh well.one_by_one wrote:I wrote down the CUID number that was included in my email about housing info.
