I think I'll take you up on that offer.

That sounds good to me! I'm still not sure if I'm going to ASW, but I'll decide in a week or two. The ASW for the 3 schools I'm interested in are all on the same weekend.

Seems like WUSTL hasn't touched my application. Current Status dates back to November 2014 when i first submitted.

Have you had your interview?
Nah. No request for interview. I'm pretty below 25% so I'm not really expecting an acceptance but it'd be a nice surprise.

Okay okay. Thanks for your pms everyone. It's super interesting to listen to how your cycle is coming along. Listening to the progresses of your cycle is, for sure, def more interesting than listening to my really terrible professors talk monotonously.

I should have messaged everyone that I said I would. I'm really sorry if I missed somebody. It might have gotten lost in my inbox. If I did, pls feel free to send me another pm.

FYI. @FutureJD21, LVbucknell, Dulman, robertrulez-- you guys are now a community. I'm referring you guys as a resource for one another. You happened to be in an identical situation at the moment. Pls feel free to bounce ideas around, exchange your thoughts, share your trials, frustrations, and successes with each other. I don't think I can be any more helpful to you guys other than what I said in my pm that I just sent. Pls do definitely talk with one another via posting in this thread or via pms.

Good luck guys !!!!!!!!!!! :D

eta: there are others whom i missed in the thread in the same situation. I wld ask you to def ask them via pm about what they are doing.

Not to put a damper on things, but I'd just caution people that are struggling to get in to possibly reevaluate things a bit. If you haven't gotten in yet and you think the reason is because your numbers are low/borderline, obviously getting in here would be a great accomplishment for you, but if you're that borderline then $$$ probably won't be in the cards for you, and I can't recommend many schools without any $$$ if you are debt-financing your legal education.

^^ ya definitely hold that thought for 1-3 weeks before ppl itt have to submit their first depo
---------------
it's probably a good idea if we, 0Ls, immigrate to WUSTL Taking Questions Thread 1-3 weeks before April 1st. Not a good idea to go into that thread right now, they're discussing something important in there. (I have some questions to ask that group, but am waiting for the current convo to die down in there)

Nobu's is indeed awesome but also far. I hung out with a bunch of Japanese students in undergrad and that was always the favorite, but also an undertaking (basically impossible without a car).

Sadly I think I will not be attending ASW after all because it's the same weekend as another school I was admitted to but haven't visited yet. It's been 5 years since I last attended bar review, way too long

So is debt-financing WUSTL necessarily a bad thing? (I'm planning on doing this for a good part of the three years)

Depends on how much obviously. If those stats are real, you should be retaking the LSAT.

Yeah for sure. I'm one of the more pro Wash U people on TLS, and even I think coming here with a small/no scholarship is a really bad idea.

Yea I mean with no money you're looking at over 200k+. I'm not even particularly debt-averse but WUSTL doesn't give you the best chances of paying that back. Despite the ~30% going into "biglaw," you really need to be top 10% to be "biglaw secure" here and that's a huge gamble.

scotti/letsgetit, how much was WUSTL this year excluding living expenses? I mean with books, health insurance, tuition, and any other fees. I'm trying to fill in that TLS loan repayment calculator spreadsheet and CoL I can figure out on my own.
itskevin wrote:So is debt-financing WUSTL necessarily a bad thing? (I'm planning on doing this for a good part of the three years)
With your GPA you should have a full tuition scholarship to WUSTL. If your LSAT score isn't good and you haven't taken it all three times then you should go ahead and take 2 of the 3 LSAT's on offer (I'd recommend June and September so you can apply earlier, but I don't think early applications matter a ton). We're talking the difference of 150,000 dollars less debt (which would really be like 300,000k you'll end up paying..if you get a job that can) or being able to go to a school where median means you'll likely get big law.
At WUSTL you will get a job for around 60k a year, which is fine if you keep your debt low. What's cool about WUSTL for many people is that they can keep their debt low so that median outcome is fine, but if they happen to get lucky and are top 30% in their class they might land a six figure job with low debt. At least that's why I'm interested in it. I'm fine with the normal outcome there and I'm excited by the decent possibility of the unlikely outcome.

Debt-financing at any T20 is a pretty bad idea but especially so at WUSTL because A) their employment numbers are on the lower end of the T20 and B) if you get a ~167+, regardless of your GPA, you're assured a massive scholarship offer. That really isn't a difficult score to get with enough study.
