Since I'm ignorant af can someone tell me. Is SC the quickest way to find out if you're in/out/WL? I thought they send an email, with the exception of USC's nonsensical "snail-mail-only" rule.

Like rebexness said, it depends on the school. Most schools will update their status checker and then a day or two later will send an email with the update.PeanutsNJam wrote:Since I'm ignorant af can someone tell me. Full ride to Albany, not sure how I feel about it.

Albany is the go-to TTT by me. I would recommend you steer clear. They're not doing well. Frequently in the paper because they're in financial trouble.ineedacupofcoffee wrote:Full ride to Albany, not sure how I feel about it.
Congrats though, I guess.

Yeah, I thought the same. What are your thoughts on Seton Hall? I recently got a full ride there as well, but I'm not familiar with Jersey.Dirigo wrote:Albany is the go-to TTT by me. Some of my friends go to Rutgers and they said they avoided Seton Hall specifically because their scholarship stipulations are super weird and it's very easy to lose your scholarship, apparently, so definitely be wary of that.ineedacupofcoffee wrote: Yeah, I thought the same. For that tier of NYC area schools, there are a ton of landmines and it is definitely prudent to avoid those schools, even if it means retaking.
What are your goals and where are you from/do you hope to practice?

Re: TLS c/o 2018 Applicants
Anyone figured out a way of filtering CRS spam from schools without missing an email from somebody you've actually applied to?
I swear to god, in the last week alone I've had emails waiving fees or promising expedited consideration for scholarships from freakin' Creighton, Syracuse, University of Idaho, W&M (x 2), Michigan State (x 2), Mason, Northeastern, Tulsa, UMaine, Barry Law (? is this a real school?) Penn State (x 2), UKansas, Regent Law, Akron, Irvine, Valpa-fucking-raiso, and that doesn't count the ones I rage deleted before they had a chance to become one with my inbox.
I unsubscribe when I can remember, but then a new school pops up promising cheap tuition and a wonderful job and honestly very little chance of suicide.
Solutions?

Already have done, after I got all the fee-waivers I wanted, but it seems like my info is still out there... don't know how it works but maybe schools took it and then wait to use it?RCSOB657 wrote:ikethegremlin wrote:Anyone figured out a way of filtering CRS spam from schools without missing an email from somebody you've actually applied to?

Re: TLS c/o 2018 Applicants
It'll take time. And by time I mean probably the entire rest of this cycle. Some of them even keep coming once you unsubscribe, but a gentle reminder that they are violating the can-spam act tends to get them to stop. The only reason I mention that is because there was some TTTT that kept emailing me long after the cycle was over and their unsubscribe wasn't working, further, I would block them but then they would subtly change their address spam-bot style (no I am not kidding), so I had to pull out my Fedora on them. I'd look it up but I can't access that email account anymore.ikethegremlin wrote:Already have done, after I got all the fee-waivers I wanted, but it seems like my info is still out there... don't know how it works but maybe schools took it and then wait to use it?RCSOB657 wrote:ikethegremlin wrote:Anyone figured out a way of filtering CRS spam from schools without missing an email from somebody you've actually applied to?

I know 3Ls that still get some of these emails occasionally.
I've just turned off CRS and unsubscribe/ reply 'Please remove me from your mailing list' ruthlessly - they seem to be slowing down after about a month of this.

What's the common wisdom on decisions over the holidays? I figure most offices will be closed starting xmas eve, but when do things generally get started again?

I unsubscribed from them, but I think they take that as an encouragement to send me more emails through spam-a-bot type accounts. I'm inclined to email them back with profanities, but that might fuel their interests further. I think we should abandon our email accounts after we hear back from all the schools we've applied to or when the cycle is over

LSN question: I applied early decision and was deferred to regular decision, then accepted regular decision. How should I mark that on LSN to help future cycles properly with good data?

Mark as Accepted, RD and in the additional info write the specifics for that school.RaiderRed wrote:LSN question: I applied early decision and was deferred to regular decision, then accepted regular decision. How should I mark that on LSN to help future cycles properly with good data?
