That's correct, respond only if you do NOT want to remain on the waitlist. Not that I'm in any position to tell them how to do their job, but that is the exact opposite of what makes sense.

Remember how a few weeks ago I said I would post a few photos from the ASD at the beginning of April? Well, here they are (extremely belatedly):

--ImageRemoved--
The walkway onto the law quad

--ImageRemoved--
The rotunda with the law library in the background

--ImageRemoved--
View from the aisle into the classroom

--ImageRemoved--
View from the front of the class

--ImageRemoved--
The rock wall in the gym

--ImageRemoved--
The Lawyer's Inn

--ImageRemoved--
The back (non-law quad) side of Florence Hall

I'll probably be doing a massive photo-dump into my blog over the weekend if you'd like to see more :).

I agree! I want to be more pro-active but I don't know how...I already sent a LOCI.

If you live close, it wouldn't hurt to visit the campus.

In general, how many positions would you say are going to be available at each firm?

3-5 per office, maybe? But some of them are looking at several different schools. It's hard to tell, but I was speaking with an attorney from one of the firms yesterday and he said that there will be interview opportunities for probably the top half of the class.

My gut instinct from watching this stuff for two years,

A handful will take 0 SMU students.

A handful will take up to 4 SMU students

The vast majority will probably take 1-2 SMU students.

Even if a firm has a summer class of 20 students in their Dallas office, between minority job fairs, UT, SMU and the random T14 school the office may interview at there just aren't that many jobs to go around per school.

If you use historical NLJ250 data as a rough guide, those firms will probably hire between 40 and 75 SMU students in total. I would expect it to be closer to the low end of the range.

I live in Wisconsin. :( But I'm trying to make a trip within the next month. Visiting is a good idea.

Call it 50 students taken divided by 250 total students = 20%. That's about what the "Go-To" list indicated.

Have watched this forum closely but never chimed in. My status changed today to "decision rendered" but I haven't seen anyone else this cycle with this status (unlike 2009 and 2010). Applied January RD - no change until now. Any thoughts?

Well, received a flat, unflattering, plain white envelope in the mail today denying my application. Shocked to say the least. A little angry I had to wait nearly six months for this. Good luck to everyone - will be attending either UT or UofH in the Fall.

This makes no sense. Did you send them the wrong PS or something?

Not at all. I've checked that app a hundred times. I have no productive thoughts on the decision. Four applications with three admits and THIS denial. I agree - this makes no sense whatsoever.

Yeah, that is pretty crazy. Sorry to hear about your bad fortune. Hope you have fun in Austin, it's a great city.

Sorry to hear about the ding, it makes no sense whatsoever :( It also makes my waitlist look all the more unpromising. I think I'm getting pretty ready to move on from waiting for SMU though, so I can focus on getting everything in order for my move to my new school without constantly thinking, "oh should I sign a lease or keep holding out for SMU?" :?

Who cares, it's SMU's loss and you can do better anyway. Congrats on the other admits.

Accepted at UT (will be attending), U of H, and OU. My personal statement emphasize from Dallas, SMU graduate employed in Dallas, needed to remain in Dallas. I'm as perplexed as everyone else.

Call and ask what happened. It will give you closure, and we all want to know what SMU was thinking

Seriously? What are you waiting for?
