THX!!! But how long does it take to receive the letter. I'm living in Seattle.unforgyvn wrote:Nope... UF does not notify you electronically about admission. They mail a physical admissions package/envelope to your permanent address with the good/bad news. I was admitted a little over a month ago and my status still says DLIT.beast510 wrote:Status changed to "Decision Letter in Transit"
Does that mean I'm rejected? Cuz I think they'd like to send me an email if I got in...
Anyway, it's a reach for me. Guess I can't enjoy Florida's oranges now...
Best of luck to you, beast.

Re: University of Florida
I cannot emphasize enough how correct this post is. You do NOT want to live on 34th.GatorGirl1230 wrote:For people looking for apartments - I've lived in Gainesville for four years and I would suggest not living anywhere on 34th Street between Archer Road and University. The traffic is horrible in the mornings and the evenings. Also, the houses right by the law school are really convenient, but on football game-days, the road that most of those houses are on is pretty much closed down. The north part of Gainesville (by 43rd St) is pretty quiet and residential. It's a little bit longer of a drive, but I think its worth the five-minute longer drive.

Re: University of Florida
I would check out College Park. It's about an 8-10 minute bike ride away from the law school campus. and literally withing two minute walking distance to Midtown. Midtown encompasses about 70% the bar scene, versus most of the clubs being downtown. I thing the age range of midtown is about right most nights for grad students. Cheap drinks and no risk of dui or need to take a bus or cab home. College Park is also great for game days. And, as lawduder said, you really can't go wrong with the houses right by the law school, but the roads do get complicated on game days.unforgyvn wrote:Thanks for the tip, Moose. Anything specific you would recommend checking out that wasn't listed?
+1 on Camelot. It's not that great and the traffic is unbelievable there at all hours. I would hate my life if I had to live there.
I also have to stress to you not to live off of 34th. I bought a condo off of 20th, which feeds from 34th. The traffic is a nightmare from 4pm-6pm. It doesn't kill me, but if I had been renting I would have moved by now. Luckily my place is accessable from University, by the mall, so I can avoid most of the headache.
If you are interested I can also suggest a few other nice apartment complexes down 13th st, near the campus but outside of biking/walking distance.

Ok, I've been DP since 2/11 and have not changed still. Should I be concerned yet or keep hoping? 167, 3.35
This is driving me insane.

No need for concern yet, I don't think. The people getting Letter in Transit the last few days have been the first few batches of rejections. I've been DP since 2/11 as well (165, 3.23). No way to know when they'll send out the next batch of acceptances though, but it's a good thing that your status hasn't changed in the last week.

People must have a lot more time and a lot less of a life than I do.

Re: University of Florida
Ugh. DP since early February with a 162/2.95 but some good WE & other softs.
Just got my February retake score this weekend and got a 168, which they obviously won't consider for the primary pool. Can they just reject me already so I can apply secondary pool?

I'm way behind on the Lomax bashing, but for the record, I'm a Lomax fan. The guys calls 'em likes he sees 'em and you gotta respect him for that. He's been more than helpful for a lot of people, especially if they are a possible future classmate of his. Look, we all know exactly what to expect, and I'll tell you what, if I know what to expect from someone, good or bad, I like 'em. Lomax, you're yet one more reason for me to go to UF. Hats off.

Ragnar and Lomax sitting in a tree...
I'm looking forward to meeting all y'all. Some strong personalities in here. Should make for a good class of 2013, I think.
