Re: UVA c/o 2019 Applicants (2015-2016)
I posted earlier about being requested to interview tomorrow. I'm GPA <25th and LSAT >75th, and wrote what I believe is a strong Why UVA. I feel like I have plenty to say about why I want to come to UVA in my Skype interview with Jason Dugas tomorrow, but can anyone advise me on how these interviews usually proceed? At Northwestern, for instance, it was very business-like, almost like a job interview, whereas at Vanderbilt it seemed relatively laid-back.
Reading through this thread and previous years, I can't seem to get a sense of what it means to be interviewed. Should I be happy or worried? I'm excited to interview because I feel I have solid reasons for why I want UVA, but as a splitter I'm just never sure about anything.
Thanks in advance.

So I did not interview with Jason, but my experience was positive. Along with you, I had a why UVA that I sent along with my application. While they asked serious and direct questions, it felt friendly. What I would recommend is "standard fare" for most law school interviews (why law school, anything of note on resume/application, why X law school etc...).Bluex12 wrote:I posted earlier about being requested to interview tomorrow. Be happy you're being interviewed. Being interviewed has been an overwhelmingly positive thing for folks in the past and should be a sign that good news is coming for you as well. UVA is big on collegiality and their interviews reflect that. My interview was a blast and my interviewer and I spent most of the time laughing and just having an almost casual conversation. It was great!Bluex12 wrote:I posted earlier about being requested to interview tomorrow. I'm GPA <25th and LSAT >75th, and wrote what I believe is a strong Why UVA. Interviews are a positive thing for UVA! I don't think anyone gets in without them, as far as I know. Mine was super relaxed. They asked about my current job, why law school, why UVA, and then asked if I had questions for them.Bluex12 wrote:I posted earlier about being requested to interview tomorrow. Re: UVA c/o 2019 Applicants (2015-2016)
If I remember correctly, I think at least one of my recommenders, who is currently a Judge, received a letter from Dean Faulk along the same lines. May be because of who they are, as stated by someone above. Best of luck!ryank1993 wrote:Hey Everyone!
It's my first time posting here and I have a couple questions. I applied Binding Expedited on February 1st. I just went under my second review with my status date changed to today. The day after I applied, Dean Faulk sent a letter in the mail to my recommender (congressman) that was signed by him thanking him for his assessment of my ability. Is this a normal practice?
Lastly, are people admitted without an interview or is an interview a prerequisite to being admitted? UVA is my first choice, hence the binding decision.
Thanks for all your help!

Was the family housing full or something wrong with it? Thank you!smile0751 wrote:Congratulations to everyone who is has been admitted and good luck to those waiting. Damn, I'm only at three months. Did you interview? I feel like if it had been five months I would've sent in seven or eight different "Why UVA"s by now.WhiteHouse wrote:Anyone else reach their 5 MONTH anniversary of being UR1? Thinking about buying some wine toforget the paincelebrate

I emailed admissions about a week ago with a generic question and haven't received any sort of response. Has anyone experienced something similar? I'm trying to decide whether I should send a follow up email to make sure they received it.

A week seems like a long time, I'd write again. Just be really careful to not sound irritated at the delay.Meno wrote:I emailed admissions about a week ago with a generic question and haven't received any sort of response. I'm at three months as well. Never did a "Why UVA" essay so might just do that at this point to try to coax some sort of decision out of them.BirdLawExpert wrote:Damn, I'm only at three months. Four months for me. I'm a splitter, but I've heard back from 12/15 schools so far. Still waiting on UVA. Looking back at last year's thread, there were some interview requests that went out to earlier applicants from November mid- February.thelincolnlawyer wrote:I've been under review since 9/16 as well. It can take a while to write "Dillard" in really fancy calligraphy.WinterComing wrote:I'm coming up on four months of radio silence, too.threatlevelmidnight wrote:Four months for me.
