On LSN last year, there was only one "compelling application" from a non-URM who was below BOTH medians (link).Aeon wrote:I think it's reasonable enough to conclude that Michigan has as holistic a review process as any among the top schools. rondemarino, you make a very salient point. And on that note, the rest of us can go back to our night terrors.rondemarino wrote:On LSN last year, there was only one "compelling application" from a non-URM who was below BOTH medians (link).Aeon wrote:I think it's reasonable enough to conclude that Michigan has as holistic a review process as any among the top schools. Re: Michigan ED Applicants
I wonder what they liked about mine. Is anyone else curious exactly what it was about their application that actually made an adcom pause and decide he or she was someone they really wanted (more so than the other people with higher numbers)?
And don't get too depressed people - it was only the first round of EDs, right? Have hope!

shows the schools that WL you that you are serious about them and the theory is that giving them something to update your file with will make them look at you again

Dear Michigan,
Cornell is going to defer me because they magically know I applied ED to you. Please remember this over the next two weeks. You're all I've ever needed.
Love,
John J. Rambo

I guess I feel kind of lucky that I haven't been deferred yet. Honestly, my numbers don't give me a realistic chance at Michigan, but it is my dream school for sure, and it would make the last four years of intense dedication to academics all worth it somehow.
Dean Z, give me a good phone call tomorrow PLEASE!

Just created a Facebook group for the 2010 summer starters. Truly hope to be seeing everyone in this thread on the group at some point and around the quad come June.

Pretty crazy name, eh? If only there were URM-level boosts for crazy Polo-Russian last names, I wouldn't have had to apply ED!

Re: Michigan ED Applicants
Nah, I made it a global group. I haven't submitted my seat deposit yet and thus don't have an email. Does anyone know if there's a date by which we have to withdraw from all other applications? I know the deposit is due January 15th(ish?) but don't have any details regarding withdrawals.bees wrote:Do we need our emails to join the Michigan network and the join the group?
EDIT: You do need your email to join the Michigan network, though, sadly. But the summer starters group should allow you to join.

Re: Michigan ED Applicants
If I'm not mistaken, according to the ED conditions that Michigan mailed in the acceptance package, we need to withdraw from all other schools by the time we submit the deposit.snickersnicker wrote:I haven't submitted my seat deposit yet and thus don't have an email. For me, the tension with this is approaching the pre-LSAT score wait tension. It's boiling.
