Mind discussing job prospects among you and your classmates and especially the 2L/3L's? OCI? UGA is one of my top choices but some of the stuff I've heard lately on here about job prospects is pretty terrifying.atlantalaw wrote:still taking questions. UGA undergrad who is a 1L now.

Re: Univ of Georgia
It is really hard for me to talk about job prospects since I am only a 1L and it is still ridiculously early to be hearing about jobs (most firms don't start interviewing until Dec 1). But here is what I've heard...tarheel87 wrote:Mind discussing job prospects among you and your classmates and especially the 2L/3L's? OCI? Some 1L's are getting SA's. It's pretty grim for any 1L trying to get an SA anywhere though, unless you have connections. The only 3L's I know either have a niche and are employed or unemployed, but I don't know many 3L's.
I have heard nothing about OCI, so I don't really have anything to say about that.
Here's to hoping the market gets better. The job prospects everywhere look pretty terrifying, but I wouldn't say UGA's job prospects are particularly more terrifying than other schools. Do you plan to stay in GA post-grad? If so, then the job prospects should look less terrifying than if you are trying to transfer to a different market post-grad.

Finally got the mailing, it was a letter from the Dean basically saying congrats and some info about the school. I did not know that UGA has had that many U.S. Supreme Court Clerks in the last few years! That is definitely a peg in their corner!

why does mine still say "application is complete" since 10/19....it doesnt say "under review" or anything...does that mean they havent even looked at mine since all of this time?
did i need to send a certification letter if i sent my app through lsac online and had my fee waived through lsac?

I cant say what the deal is with status checkers since mine said I was admitted whenever they sent me the link. I didn't send any sort of certification letter and applied through lsac with a fee waiver, so I don't think you need to send anything else.timertimer61 wrote:why does mine still say "application is complete" since 10/19....it doesnt say "under review" or anything...does that mean they havent even looked at mine since all of this time?

Re: Univ of Georgia
okay it seems like my application was just sitting there because they thought they were waiting on another lsat score, which was canceled. so my app was sitting there not being reviewed for more than a month.
even though it is still late at end of november, do i still stand a good chance? i have a 3.52 and a 161/164 from a top 25.
Thank you!

Re: Univ of Georgia
Definitely. Everyone on LSN with a 164 was accepted last year, with the exception of one person who had a gpa of 2.55. Many applied later than you, so I wouldn't be worried. I applied about 2 weeks ago and was accepted with a 164/3.73, so you should be good!timertimer61 wrote:okay it seems like my application was just sitting there because they thought they were waiting on another lsat score, which was canceled. so my app was sitting there not being reviewed for more than a month.

So since 164 is apparently their cutoff, what are my chances with a 163/3.74? Anyone know? I'm "held for further review" currently. I'm not well-versed in UGA's admissions history..lol.

I got the rejection via status check today too so my 163 wasn't apparently liked but my gpa is well below yours.mytwocents wrote:So since 164 is apparently their cutoff, what are my chances with a 163/3.74? Re: Univ of Georgia
I was accepted around Thanksgiving. 3.18/167. I was also out-of-state, if that matters to you. I'm assuming the LSAT made up for the low GPA. Based on the previous posts, it's looking like they really value the LSAT. I hope this helps you out!

Based on today's rejections, I wouldn't even bother applying if I didn't get a fee waiver
. I suppose I can just hope they like me enough for a WL or a Hold until my Feb LSAT (going to send apps this weekend). I really really heart UGA too.

I didn't think I would get in based on my GPA, nor did I get a fee waiver from them. So have hope!keg411 wrote:Based on today's rejections, I wouldn't even bother applying if I didn't get a fee waiver. Sorry to mine information from those who were unfortunately rejected. But.... Did anyone who was rejected via the status checker receive the "File reviewed. Held..." notice before being rejected?

Possibly, but don't think so. I think I checked my status last week and it was still under review or whatever. I checked last night, and it showed I was denied.
