Re: Penn State 2010 application cycle
I asked in a chat when the packets were coming out. They said they hoped to send them in the next couple weeks

Did anyone check out the chat last night. What did you think? I stopped in for the last half hour, and though I have serious opinions of some of the chatters, I will withhold said opinions for the sake of etiquette.
I checked it out, not a lot of new info, but some interesting questions I guess.
YEP- one guy in particular! I felt like some of the questions from the chat last night were akin to students asking what the starting salary is for a company at a job fair: INAPPROPRIATE and naive! That chat was nothing like I thought it would be!

I'm glad I wasn't the only one who thought so. And I felt bad for the people fielding questions... there were some rather confrontational participants.redraiderette wrote:YEP- one guy in particular! there were some stoooopid questions in the chat. One guy legit asked if participating in the chat boosted admissions chances.badwithpseudonyms wrote:I'm glad I wasn't the only one who thought so. lol I asked about employment stats, too. They gave me a link to the career service site. PSU isn't really making the cut.badwithpseudonyms wrote:Jeeez. So I got a missed call from an 814 number yesterday. I freaked out. So I googled where the number came from, and it was right near PSU, so I was really excited. Returned the call this morning, it was some medical office. fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck.

It was me!

EDIT: Apparently there's a fourth now. 878 - it's an overlay in 412/724. I feel like this doesn't count against my original statement though.

It was me!814 is a huge area code. There's only three total on the west half of the state. I have lived in them all at some point in my life.

Anyone on TLS get their acceptance packet? I noticed some on LSN were getting their scholly offers...and I'm curious to what their stipulations are to maintain them?

I can't wait to get the email from "PSULawAdmissions" (as I always see it in my Blackberry) and open it to find they are wishing me a Happy Valentines Day via a scheduled online chat or some shit...

I was in the batch in late December. Either the 22nd or 23rd I think. Were you as well?

Re: Penn State 2010 application cycle
I love Penn State. I have virtually no complaints about the school itself and social life is awesome. Unfortunately, a lot will depend on the scholarship they offer because of the high tuition and the offers I've gotten from other schools. On LSN I saw people with $5000 offers and if that's the case that would still put tuition at double what I'd pay elsewhere. However, if you aren't concerned with the financial aspect, I would certainly recommend going to PSU.
