Roxbury,
I just filled mine out this morning. Its a breeze (especially if your father is a CPA). I also was accepted around that time and yet to hear back about offers (which my numbers would suggest I should).

Re: Florida State 2010
so i am last minute deciding to maybe go to scholars day next week. i found that it would be A LOT cheaper for me to fly into JAX and take the greyhound from jacksonville to tallahassee. so for anyone that didn't get a travel stipend (like me) and is from out of state (and are willing to take the greyhound) it might be a lot cheaper that way for you....

I'm sorry for not reading back into the thread, but have you called and requested a stipend? The admissions department at FSU is pretty good, I'll bet they will hook you up if you give them a call to let them know you are flying in and taking a greyhound to attend the event.

For those waiting for decisions... It looks like the last two days that acceptances were released (People received phone calls, etc.) happened to be Tuesdays. Maybe tomorrow will be a good day?

Re: Florida State 2010
I emailed a request about a week and a half ago and they said they were unable to offer a travel stipend at this time. Maybe I should have called instead? I booked my flight and bus tickets today, and am really excited that I can go now, but even a small stipend would have been really really helpful.Moose Thompson wrote:mango26 wrote:so i am last minute deciding to maybe go to scholars day next week. i found that it would be A LOT cheaper for me to fly into JAX and take the greyhound from jacksonville to tallahassee. so for anyone that didn't get a travel stipend (like me) and is from out of state (and are willing to take the greyhound) it might be a lot cheaper that way for you....

Re: Florida State 2010
I'm an fsu 1L and could not have better things to say about it! It makes me so excited seeing all of you anxious to get in. I'm friends w/ daniel in the admissions office and he says this year's applicant pool is by far the smartest they've ever had (our class was before this new incoming class), and for those of you who don't know this, fsu is expanding their 1L class size b/c we're acquiring the 1st DCA building across the street. FSU is huge on numbers; I had a shitty gpa and some criminal/legal issues (dui) and got in simply b/c of my 162. You will almost guaranteed get a phone call before you find out any other way, and anyone calling from any office at FSU in general will have an (850) area code and start w/ 644, just so you know before you pick up the phone. I have friends w/ scholarships, but all of them have a gpa qualification and from what i understand (we don't talk too too much about grades, but everyone kind of figures out where you stand anyway) a lot of them are losing it b/c of grades, b/c i mean, not everyone can be in the top 20% or whatever the stipulation is. Last year I was on this thread everyday trying to figure out how/when i would be notified and whether or not I would get in based on others' experiences. A bunch of kids towards the end (i applied like the night before the deadline and found out i think around the end of april, so i was particularly nervous b/c acceptances were few and far between) hadn't heard back yet and scheduled a tour and then found out the next day. So even though I live in tallahassee and had been to the law school before, I scheduled a tour, and it helps b/c they review your application before you get there. I got the phone call two days later. I don't know how accurate that is in this cycle, but I am not kidding when I say that like 6 different kids on TLS did that and got in, or at least got an answer after they had been waiting for months. Go to scholar's day if you can, I didn't b/c i wasn't in yet but all of my peers have cool fsu nalgenes (water bottles) and tshirts and other fun junk from it you will appreciate later! Also, for those who haven't been here yet, I think you will be pleasantly surprised (although they did start some construction over xmas break so the school's aesthetic aspects are slightly marred) by the school, the faculty, the campus, the students, etc. I know we had a 0L last wk sit in on one of my classes and the teacher was really cool about bringing him in the discussion and stuff; i think as an 0L that would have been kind of neat to do. As far as financial aid goes, I knew I wasn't going to be getting scholarship money b/c of my late acceptance, but I want to say after taking all the requisite steps for loans and grad plus stuff, I had everything w/i weeks. If you have any questions at all, PM me b/c i'm never on here, I was just procrastinating and wanted to check it out. Sorry if this rant was not informative in the least and just wasted your time! lol, good luck!

Re: Florida State 2010
my online status checker was updated on 1/25 saying that a decision was made and will arrive by mail. I applied to FSU as a reach and since I havent received a phone call I am fully expecting to be rejected. What could be taking so long? its been almost 3 weeks

I hope they don't increase the class size by too much. One of FSU's appeals to me is its relatively small class size.ame05d wrote:I'm an fsu 1L and could not have better things to say about it! I agree, this is disconcerting. Does ame05d have any more info on this?Tuyarp wrote:I hope they don't increase the class size by too much. Did anybody else see these emails? All I have to say is damnnnn yo! Get it FSU! I'd like to be on Moot Court just because I love Prof Stern.
Greetings from the Office of Admissions!
In addition to the Moot Court team’s first place win in the 2010 Religious Freedom Moot Court Competition on February 5th, this past weekend, Florida State University College of Law’s Moot Court team won first place in this year's National Security Law Moot Court Competition. The competition was held on February 13-14 at George Washington University Law School in Washington, D.C. This is the second time that Florida State has won first place in this competition. Florida State beat Cornell Law School in the final round. In addition to Cornell, other law schools among the 22 participating in the competition included Baylor, Brigham Young University, Duke and the University of Michigan. This is the law school’s 27th championship in a national moot court competition.

Same here. Did anyone get the need based financial aid email? Is there also a merit based app? I would think my numbers would open me up to some significant scholarship opportunities at FSU (or I would hope!)

I have been stuck at application complete since 1/25....I'm median GPA and one point under the median LSAT based on what the status checker says I guess the strength of my application isnt that much. How many other people in application complete purgatory?

I can 1 up this...I have had "decision made and will arrive by mail" since 1/25 and still no letter. My numbers are a little lower than yours so I'm expecting a rejection, but I don't understand the hold upSAOJD10 wrote:I have been stuck at application complete since 1/25....I'm median GPA and one point under the median LSAT based on what the status checker says I guess the strength of my application isnt that much. Re: Florida State 2010
I've been in review for 2 weeks now. I don't want to complain because I know plenty of people are still "application complete" but I thought a decision would have been made by now. I hate getting excited (and subsequently let down) by every phone call and then checking the status checker 100x a day.

Talked to ame05d about the class size increase at FSU and it turned out to be false. As a matter of fact, she said that FSU is aiming to shrink the incoming class by 50.

Oh that's good news. I was really surprised when I read that, because I thought FSU enjoyed its lower class size.Tuyarp wrote:Talked to ame05d about the class size increase at FSU and it turned out to be false. As a matter of fact, she said that FSU is aiming to shrink the incoming class by 50.

Put on hold today with LSAT above 75th, GPA between 25th and median. A little bit surprised but not one of my top choices so I'll be withdrawing by Monday.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
