For your College Activities, did y'all write a short paragraph for each activity??
I didn't. Did mine in bullet points just like a resume.
Same. I basically just took my resume and took a bit more space to elaborate but still kept the bullet point format
did you also submit the resume?
Unlike the poster above, I did also submit a 1-page condensed version of my resume. I don't think it was redundant because that was what I like to call my brief, boilerplate professional resume with only my relevant professional experience described succinctly whereas the extra questions were some of the same professional positions (but with more bullet points and described in depth since I didn't worry about keeping it to a page) plus college activities, volunteering, and a description of my thesis project. So no, I don't think it was redundant but I also doubt they cared much about the one page resume at that point

Interesting. Did you also submit a resume? If so, was the information redundant from what you wrote on the resume?
Nah, I didn't submit a resume. Would have been absolutely redundant for me. My college activities was literally just a copy and paste of my resume to fit the format they required.
The College Activities prompt doesn't mention academic honors like Phi Beta Kappa. Did you mention such awards? If not, I may submit a resume just for the awards/honors section.

Actually, I just realized I already listed them under the Education section in the application. Never mind haha.

Hi all,

I have a quick question regarding the significance of one my softs. I played four years of Division-1 football at an elite academic institution (beat Yale my junior year). Wondering how much it will boost my app?

GPA - Median
LSAT -25%

Also, any idea when the next batch of admits will be notified?

Thanks and good luck to all.

Hard to say. What happened freshman, sophomore, and senior year?

I'm a D1 athlete as well, and I can't say for yale (yet), but with other T14 schools I'd say it made a big difference. However, I think it depends on how you include it in your PS and overall application. But for a D1 athlete to be able to devote so much time to a sport (and excel at it) and still maintain a GPA on par with other applicants has got to be an advantage.

Why do you want this? If it's to mess with someone, that's a pretty awful thing to do.

Negative. It's to condition myself. Nothing softens a blow like the blow itself.

I haven't been dinged, but I think reading plenty of letters that just say:

Thank you for your application. Unfortunately, due to the high volume of quality applicants, we cannot admit everyone... etc... should get you ready just fine

Yeah...current and former YLS students told me I have a strong chance, and I'm trying to disappoint myself. Ha. Self-regulation.

Hello everyone, I am thinking of throwing an application in to Yale and would appreciate some guidance. I have two letters or reccomendation, one from a professor and the other from my boss at my current position (I have been out of school for three years). Is that going to be an auto ding? I haven't had any issues with other schools, but I know Yale stresses the two professor rule.

Get two professors. From what I know and from everything I've read on Asha's blog and in her videos talking about letters of recommendation, two letters is an absolute must, even if you're somewhat separated from undergrad. I would do my best to try to get another and use your boss as a third (I submitted 2 prof letters and 1 work letter from the relevant field I want to go into)

Here's a quote from Asha stressing the fact that you need two professors: "I often tell applicants that applying to Yale Law School is a lot like playing blackjack. The odds are on the house, there's more than a little luck involved, but there are a few basic rules you can follow to increase your chances significantly. One of those rules is to submit two references from faculty members who have taught you in a class. Let me put that another way: Your chances of admission to Yale Law School go down drastically if you submit only one or no academic letters of recommendation. Or let me break it down even further: Your letters of recommendation will make or break your application."
