Per their 509 only 9 people received full tuition for 2014.Toodle-loo wrote:According to LSN, the highest scholarship amount given last year was $105k to someone with a 170 LSAT score - the vast majority of aid awards were $75k. I was a little surprised by this given the willingness of other (sometimes higher-ranked) schools to far exceed this average award amount (Fordham University for example, gives several awards well over 100k).
I'm anticipating my offer with excitement, as they are 100% my first choice (barring a $$$ miracle at a T14), but I'm strongly hoping that the LSN numbers just aren't accurate somehow..

Re: Boston College Law Class of 2019 applicants
I have heard, though I am now unsure of the source, that BC tends to be a little stingy with money. I'm not holding out hope for any kind of full-ride but getting 50% (aka matching an offer I have from a T20) would certainly be nice, if not expected.Toodle-loo wrote:According to LSN, the highest scholarship amount given last year was $105k to someone with a 170 LSAT score - the vast majority of aid awards were $75k. Wish those 9 peeps would report on LSN so I could compare stats and feel inadequateJuliusCaesar wrote:Per their 509 only 9 people received full tuition for 2014.Toodle-loo wrote:According to LSN, the highest scholarship amount given last year was $105k to someone with a 170 LSAT score - the vast majority of aid awards were $75k. I wonder if you have to have already submitted your FAFSA? I noticed on an email a few months back that under "scholarships" it mentioned they start downloading FAFSAs in early February..jumbo2016 wrote:Email to admits last week said that scholarship offers would start going out today. In reading the wording on the website it says explicitly that you have to complete the FAFSA for Federal Aid. It says that all admitted students are automatically considered for merit scholarships. No further action necessary.gunners94 wrote:I wonder if you have to have already submitted your FAFSA? Anyone know if decisions are released on a certain day of the week? I know Northwestern is known to release decisions on Tuesday, just wondering if it's similar at BC.

Not entirely sure what to tell you here. I haven't noticed a trend really. I know they said that some scholarship decisions would be emailed today, no idea about admissions decisions.tuesdayninja wrote:Anyone know if decisions are released on a certain day of the week? On a side note I'm both super excited and super nervous for the first person to post that they got a scholarship.

Major snow storm today in Boston, unlikely to hear anything.MOKE4311 wrote:Not entirely sure what to tell you here. I haven't noticed a trend really. Email I received last week said scholarship info was going to start today (2/8) but I presume that'll be delayed with the snow

Me too! I am absolutely thrilled. That's a great offer, especially considering my splitter-dom. Can't stop smiling. BC is 100% my top choice. Good luck everyone else!jumbo2016 wrote:Got an email at 5:48pm EST! 75 K!

So any of you that might be planning on negotiating, do you think it would be prudent to send an email back to the generic email address saying "thank you, BC has been my top choice from the beginning blah blah blah"? Or should I ask for someone specifically in FinAid to speak to?

Was offered a scholarship of $102,000 today. Totally stunned at the amount- I didn't realize they gave out that much!

Congrats! I wouldn't reply to that email but email admissions separately about itMOKE4311 wrote:So any of you that might be planning on negotiating, do you think it would be prudent to send an email back to the generic email address saying "thank you, BC has been my top choice from the beginning blah blah blah"? I was offered 105k. I didnt expect it since I hear so many get 75K. Very pleasant surprise My stats are hard to gauge because I am non traditional but my numbers are:Toodle-loo wrote:According to LSN, the highest scholarship amount given last year was $105k to someone with a 170 LSAT score - the vast majority of aid awards were $75k. $90k! Got the email last night but just noticed it in my spam folder. Hoping to negotiate. I'd love to be at BC, but I have full rides to higher ranked schools. Good luck, everyone!

When do you think it is reasonable to begin scholarship negotiations with schools? I've heard we could start as early as March, but I'm still waiting to hear on scholarship packages from most schools that I've been accepted to.

I would generally say to wait until you have more offers in to leverage. There's a great write-up here:jobz wrote:gunners94 wrote:$90k! Got the email last night but just noticed it in my spam folder. That should help you out, especially the hierarchy of leverages. Hope this helps
