Ah yes, the Duke/UVA debacles. I was a newbie poster back then. If only id been as confident on this forum then as I am now. I would have wrecked.
Haha it was certainly something. I think a lot of us were pretty new then, but fortunately we all made friends!

There was a gender-relates debate in the Compendium today, but this time the boys were on our side.

Anne Kleins for heels and Tory Burch for flats.

I have more, but those are just the things I need to remove/hide, lol.
I have a colorful ankle tat. I use dermablend. They don't make an exact match to my skin tone but it still works wonders. It even covers the green! My only complaint is that it smears easily. I have to be careful not to brush up against anything.

I love my tattoo but it might be time to have it removed :(

I know I can wear my regular UG clothes to classes, but what do I need to supplement my wardrobe with for 1L? We don't need suits just yet, right? Maybe a couple of nice sheath dresses, a blazer or two and some good quality conservative pumps? (All on sale, of course, and if anyone knows of an inexpensive, but decent quality store brand, let me know! I looked at an article that listed an acceptable, cheap brand as Ann Taylor, and I was like... riiiiiggghhht)

I figure for most meetings/events we need to attend as 1Ls, I can get away with wearing things I already own. Honestly though, would anyone know or care if I showed up for something in a blazer I got on sale for $45 at The Limited? I figure the rules are no cleavage, no trendy shoes, and dress/skirt lengths not shorter than a couple inches above the knee.

Is this anything I even need to be concerned with yet? :)

Yeah, all that sounds good! I'm also a big fan of the skirt+nice blouse combo because it's easy to dress up with a blazer, but you can also pair the blouse with jeans or something for everyday wear.

So you think it's enough for just the coming year to buy:

Grey sheath
Navy sheath
Grey blazer
Navy blazer
Black pencil skirt
Black pumps (would grey be better for pumps/skirt?)
(Anything else?)

I have plenty of blouses and pants. If I could spend $400 or less, that'd be great (I may have to buy it in shifts, lol) but of course, I'd like to get things that I won't have to replace. I'm going to be really poor really soon!

He he, yeah, I was asking for recs for shoes for work, less for 1L. I think for 1L classes, anything goes, just whatever vibe you want to throw off. Nice casual is probably a good guess.

Keep an eye out for Ann Taylor sales. I got a suit there last winter and it was well worth it, the fit was really good. A few folks recommended Anne Klein for shoes, which are available at DSW.
I wonder how many functions (or whatever) we will need to attend where business wear will be expected? or is that more of a 2L/3L thing?

Yeah, that definitely sounds like enough - it's not like people will be keeping track of you at different events and will notice if you wear the same outfits a lot. Plus with all your blouses, it'll be easy to mix and match.

Only thing I'd add would be some nice flats!
