Now that everything is pretty much over, what are your thoughts on Stanford Law?

Umm, it's the best fucking school in the entire goddamned world. I will be there this fall and am personally just grateful that I get to post in the C/O 2019 thread, where we actually have a real OP in fliptrip. Eat caca and die, Dcc617. Your parents hate you.

It's chill bro, but I was already set on Harvard or Yale anyway. I got my shades on to block out all that shade from CA. Enjoy the earthquakes, hippies.

I personally can't stand Stanford, its administration, and especially its admissions office. I waited patiently for 4-7 months only to get waitlisted or rejected less than a week before May. Seriously, go home Stanford, you're drunk (unless you accept me off the waitlist, then I will love you)

Meh, I mean, this was a total long shot for me. I just wanted to see what would happen. This is what I thought would happen.

I'm totally indifferent to Stanford, because I am super happy with the option I am going with. Grow up, Dcc617. You're embarrassing yourself with this poll.

I will be Seymour Asses from Futurama, and Stanford is my Fry. DO YOU KNOW WHAT THAT MEANS? I WILL FUCKING DIE ON THE WAITLIST!

I am a lurker. I may not have even applied anywhere this cycle. My motives for lurking this thread are entirely inscrutable and apparently I have nothing better to do with my life.

Dcc617, stop making every other poll option about yourself. While you are very handsome, your constant narcissism and self-indulgence has become off-putting.

The link in the email doesn't work, it sends you to the last checker you were at. You have to go to their website.

Haha yeah, I figured it was something like that. Just cracked me up to see it go to Berkeley.

Here are the poll results:

Image

In first place is, as always, the Legally Blonde option. Because if there is one thing that people on TLS love, it is that fucking movie. I mean, I kind of get it, but also not? I thought it was alright, just not life-changing. What is it though? Seriously?

In second place is option about how Columbia has stronger LST employment numbers than Stanford. I'm taking it with a grain of salt though, since Columbia is so heavily concentrated in NY biglaw. But still, solid work Columbro.

In third place is....seriously y'all? I mean, really? Being an OP isn't as glamorous as you would think. I mean, sure there are parties, groupies, etc, but there is a lot of work involved. Do you think that last year's Stanford OP just copied and pasted itself. How about a 'thank you' every once in a while. Ungrateful bastards, the whole lot of you.

I guess it's not possible to put a Why X on this application? Or am I just missing something?

I've always assumed that for Stanford (or any of HYS), they know why you want to attend X and that it's just not that helpful to include one.

Eta: I suppose if someone is a 180/4.0 applicant who currently lives in Boston but would almost certainly attend Stanford if admitted, has family ties to the Bay Area, and a SO who has already been accepted to a Stanford graduate program, it might make sense. Maybe.

I'm pretty sure Stanford loves anything that is actually Stanford-specific (rec letters included). My app was basically a love letter to Stanford (I was a Stanford grad student in engineering) and it worked out just fine--I got admitted last year and deferred. But I think to pull that off you probably have to actually understand the school pretty well (and what makes it different from H/Y).

Did any of y'all submit an addenda for Why Stanford? Or is that not a thing?

I think it is not a thing in 99% of cases, but I am also far from an authority on this
