The link in the email doesn't work, it sends you to the last checker you were at. You have to go to their website.burtsbeesfanatic wrote:I hadn't actually looked at my status checkers page, and the email Stanford sent me links to the Berkeley status checker and I'm shook.

Re: Stanford C/O 2019 Applicants (2015-2016 cycle)
Here are the poll results:

In first place is, as always, the Legally Blonde option. Because if there is one thing that people on TLS love, it is that fucking movie. I mean, I kind of get it, but also not? I thought it was alright, just not life-changing. What is it though? Seriously?
In second place is option about how Columbia has stronger LST employment numbers than Stanford. I'm taking it with a grain of salt though, since Columbia is so heavily concentrated in NY biglaw. But still, solid work Columbro.
In third place is....seriously y'all? I mean, really? Being an OP isn't as glamorous as you would think. I mean, sure there are parties, groupies, etc, but there is a lot of work involved. Do you think that last year's Stanford OP just copied and pasted itself. How about a 'thank you' every once in a while. Ungrateful bastards, the whole lot of you.

New poll. Also, I added a link to the admissions spreadsheet to the OP.

I had a dream that I was waiting in line at the bank, and I was standing next to Bill Cosby.

I guess it's not possible to put a Why X on this application? Or am I just missing something?

I've always assumed that for Stanford (or any of HYS), they know why you want to attend X and that it's just not that helpful to include one.theugg wrote:I guess it's not possible to put a Why X on this application? Or am I just missing something?
Eta: I suppose if someone is a 180/4.0 applicant who currently lives in Boston but would almost certainly attend Stanford if admitted, has family ties to the Bay Area, and a SO who has already been accepted to a Stanford graduate program, it might make sense. Maybe.

I'm pretty sure Stanford loves anything that is actually Stanford-specific (rec letters included). My app was basically a love letter to Stanford (I was a Stanford grad student in engineering) and it worked out just fine--I got admitted last year and deferred. But I think to pull that off you probably have to actually understand the school pretty well (and what makes it different from H/Y).EnderWiggin wrote:I've always assumed that for Stanford (or any of HYS), they know why you want to attend X and that it's just not that helpful to include one.theugg wrote:I guess it's not possible to put a Why X on this application? Did any of y'all submit an addenda for Why Stanford? Or is that not a thing?

I think it is not a thing in 99% of cases, but I am also far from an authority on thistheugg wrote:Did any of y'all submit an addenda for Why Stanford? Or is that not a thing?
