Would it be too late to apply to Indiana or ND to get competing scholarship offers?

Check their respective websites to see when the reg. admission deadline is. If you can still send it in as a reg. admission packet then I'd do it. ND won't give you more money, but IU might. Worth a shot.

It's worth noting that the higher rank of Notre Dame and the competition for the same market can make a lower offer from ND still something Illinois would have an interest in competing with. For all they know you are a typical person who knows nothing more than what the USNews says, and would take the lower offer from ND. If they really want you, they'll give you more money.

I applied pretty late in the game, I'll admit (first week in Feb), but it only took Indiana a few days to come back with an acceptance/full tuition. My status for UIUC changed to "ready for review" or something last week -- how long do you think it'll take for me to hear back from them? UIUC might be my first choice because I want to end up in Chicago, but I have to let IU know by April 1. Will I be cutting it too close? If I got full tuition (out of state) for IU, do you think I could get it at UIUC? If I could even get more than tuition at UIUC, I'd for sure go.

Has anyone heard back from UIUC Law in the past few weeks? It feels like they are really holding their cards close with putting out decisions.

My SC changed but I didn't get an email. The dean for admissions just got back Monday from paternity leave I believe so maybe stuff will start cranking out again soon.

Well at least that is good to know. I was growing curious myself after my own SC changed earlier this week. I have noticed that over all through checking this site and LSN that very few have discussed UIUC or seen any form of decision. Ill second the hope that information and decisions are pushed out quickly in the near future.

I'm right there with you. I've been "In review" since 1/30. Not super fun.

Out of curiosity, are you well above both their 75 percentiles? I have noticed a trend of rejection for those obviously bellow their medians and acceptance for well above. I am above their LSAT 75 percentile but just below their GPA.

I am very far above the LSAT 75 and just below GPA median. I was offered full tuition.

Well on that note congratulations. I doubt I will be so luck, but one could hope. Think you matriculate or are they a strong safety for you and for negotiating?

Thank you! I'm not sure yet -- waiting to see how more of my cycle plays out. It is a great option to have.

Indeed, being from the area I am biased in UIUC's favor, but I expect to see them rise again in ranking. Even without the ranking they still are strong in the overall market due to their alum base and reputation, so a free JD would never be a bad option.

One of my classmates was accepted the week before classes began in August. The College is slower than other schools, so don't totally lose hope.

I've heard a lot current students say the plunge has a lot to do with the scandal but employers didn't seem to care. I think the same as you.

Anyone have any thoughts on what to expect scholarship wise as a splitter (GPA<3 LSAT>170)?

Splitters are generally unpredictable. Based on MyLSN it looks like $30k:

I have similar stats (but LSAT not above a 170) and got 40k a year. I would guess with a score that high you'll get more!

When these scholarship amounts are reported are they always per year? I realize this is probably a very dumb question but I always assumed it was total over three years.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
