I got a call on the same day, it was just a student rep asking if I had any questions and congratulating me again.imcgrattan12 wrote:mieko wrote:If you have already been accepted it was likely a call from a Student Admissions Ambassador congratulating you and giving you their contact info. Ya I'm sure that's it, as i have already been accepted. I was just freaking out about the possibility that it was a scholarship offer lol.

Saw an email header earlier today titled "University of South..." and glanced at the source (sc.edu) and got excited.
Fuck you, University of South Carolina.
Then I saw an email that was ACTUALLY from USC.
Fuck you, Rothman scholarship.

So what's the general opinion on applying for Rothman?
Worth it to make it seem like I saved the world even though I have not published an article, headed a giant business, or invented a useful device?
Can I write about how my father invented Toaster Strudel?

I too would like some info on this. How many of us are planning on applying/have applied for the Rothman?smashes wrote:So what's the general opinion on applying for Rothman?

I don't think it'll affect your admissions decision, but it may affect scholarship money. I've submitted the Essay and Resume, but haven't done the video (still debating whether or not to do it).sheishkabob wrote:I too would like some info on this. Re: USC c/o 2018 Applicants Thread (2014-2015)
Based on what I can tell, for applicants with relatively high LSATs, they're using the Rothman as a factor in YP. I applied mid-December and went under the first committee review shortly thereafter. I didn't go under the second committee review until the day I submitted my Rothman application, and things have been quiet in the two weeks since except for one date change (still under second committee review). My LSAT is above USC's 75th, and this seems to be a trend for others with similar stats. So if your stats are high for USC, I think you definitely have to apply. If your stats are within their range, I don't think it's critical to admission, but I'd still encourage you to. Either way, it can't hurt.

I was admitted in December, so submission would be for scholarship negotiation. I haven't done anything particularly amazing...but the consensus is that it would still help even if I'm not granted the Rothman? I'm at 50th and above 75th

And for the folks who were asking, I did apply for the Rothman, though since I don't have anything near a 4.0/180 or a Rhodes Scholarship, I highly doubt I'll be the one. But good luck to who ever actually gets this thing...that person will be INCREDIBLE.

Yeah exactly I'm just doing it to hopefully be considered for SOME money, I know I'm comically underqualified for the Rothman I feel like I got the invite by mistakecc78 wrote:And for the folks who were asking, I did apply for the Rothman, though since I don't have anything near a 4.0/180 or a Rhodes Scholarship, I highly doubt I'll be the one. After sitting complete since about Mid-October, I finally got the Committee First Read yesterday!
Pretty happy just to know I'm finally progressing through.

My app was complete in mid-October also, but I've been in Committee 2nd Read since 1/9... Any ideas when I should have a decision?
