Rejected this morning, after withdrawing post-acceptance two years in a row to pursue law/journalism-related work opportunities. 176/3.54. Pretty much devastated, UT was definitely my #1 choice as a sixth-generation Texan hoping to come back home.

Sorry to hear that! I'm sure with your 176/3.54 you will have wonderful options presented to you. You should pull a full ride somewhere in the T14 and then can come back to Texas and run this state. Good luck!whosinthehousejc wrote:Rejected this morning, after withdrawing post-acceptance two years in a row to pursue law/journalism-related work opportunities. 176/3.54. I figured that's it, but if so, why not just WL me and ask for an essay to gauge interest?bound wrote:whosinthehousejc wrote:Rejected this morning, after withdrawing post-acceptance two years in a row to pursue law/journalism-related work opportunities. 176/3.54. They probably figure that your two prior post-acceptance withdrawals was fairly indicative of your interest level. They're not eager to be thrice bitten.
If it is indeed your #1 choice and you do intend to attend this year, write to them and request reconsideration, explaining the reason you want to attend UT over even HYSCCN as well as the reasons for the past withdrawals and how those don't come into play this year.

If this is true, would you be willing to ED? Maybe that's the route to go and offer to agree to ED if they will reconsider their decision. Financially it may not be prudent, but that's your call.whosinthehousejc wrote:Rejected this morning, after withdrawing post-acceptance two years in a row to pursue law/journalism-related work opportunities. 176/3.54. Thanks a lot for the advice, guys. I think you're right BVest. I did reply with a note explaining my withdrawals and requesting an opportunity to address any concerns they have about my intention to matriculate. Didn't mention "why not HYSCCN" (reasons being family sickness in TX, intention to practice in TX, etc.), think it's worth emailing/calling to clarify further, or just let it play out?BVest wrote:They probably figure that your two prior post-acceptance withdrawals was fairly indicative of your interest level. Asking to be reconsidered seems kind of weird to me but I guess you have nothing to lose. I would email Dean Ingram and see if you can talk/meet with her directly, but don't be surprised if she won't reconsider.
As another poster said, If something has changed and you really do intend to attend law school this year you should have some nice out of state options and depending on goals, those might make more sense than UT anyway.

You can appeal the decision within 30 days. Details are about 3/4 of the way down. Good luck! Definitely their loss.whosinthehousejc wrote:Thanks a lot for the advice, guys. My application tracker indicates the following under "Current File Status":
-Application fee has been waived.
-Personal statement has been received.
-Applicant resume has been received.
It does not mention my letters of recommendation. Maybe somebody else with a tracker can see if it lists theirs? I'm assuming they have them, but the tracker only lists required documents? (UT does not require letters of rec)

Above those bullet points, does it say "Your application file is complete"? My status looks exactly like yours, and I'm guessing only those documents required to complete the application are listed.PhilippeStandingOnIt wrote:Another UT applicant checking in here. Texas resident, non-traditional, splitter. Texas is definitely my first choice.

Yeah it says complete. So it looks like they're just checking off the essentials. I just checked my voicemail to find a nice message from Sam Riley, Director of Admissions, informing me that I've been admitted to UT. Very happy to get this.
