To me this is the part that stopped me from putting anything in: "under the supervision of an academic advisor or professional editor". Because I've done some 20 page papers for classes but nothing that was supervised by my academic advisor, or a professional editor. Soooo... left it blank.smccgrey wrote:So this is what we're all talking about, right... not that I'm really considering applying, but if like all the work I do professionally fits this criteria (professional editing, multiple revisions, etc), would saying something to the effect of1. Or is this academic writing only?

I think when they say academic advisor they mean anyone who would give you advice academically on your work- like a professor. So if you had to turn in multiple versions of a paper or go over research methodology with your professor that would count.ikethegremlin wrote:To me this is the part that stopped me from putting anything in: "under the supervision of an academic advisor or professional editor". If the process involves multiple rounds of editing by professionals I would assume there is no harm in putting it in there, just be sure to elaborate a little on the process. If you feel like you really need to know whether your experience counts you can always contact the admissions office. But if I were you I would just put it in.smccgrey wrote:So no answers regarding the professional writing question?

Professional writing: academic work that amounts to either a capstone thesis or a published work. IMO

"do you think it would help if I included an elle woods style video?"
I'd probably try begging first. If that doesn't work, perhaps a well placed threat would do the trick. It's never too early to express your enthusiasm
