I'm not sure what the email said specifically, but my LOR writer made it seem very form and non-specific. Hopefully this is a sign that decisions are coming soon.middlebear wrote:One of my writers got a thank you email, "we receive so many applications, your input is important," etc.LawGirlAtx wrote:Has anyone heard from one of their LOR writers that they received an email from Dean of Admissions Andrew Cornblatt? No idea on what it means for acceptances, though.

I just cruised c/o 2016, seems the LOR thank you letters don't correlate with any specific decision...one poster from that year says he got dinged after his recommenders received thank you notes.
Still have my fingers crossed for a letter before the end of the week.

Re: Georgetown c/o 2018 Applicants
Went through the c/o 2016 thread. Looks like the emails went out around this time in 2012 too. I found some correlations, but not timeline. It also seems to be a very small sample size. From c/o 2016 thread:LawGirlAtx wrote:I'm not sure what the email said specifically, but my LOR writer made it seem very form and non-specific. After a cursory glance at last year's thread, applicants who were both wait listed and admitted noted their recommenders received thank you notes from Georgetown (sample size: 3, 2 admit 1 wait list). So I think it's safe to say this has no indication of a decision. And the one guy who was wait listed didn't get his decision until February this year. I'd say the letters mean little to nothing.

Blah, the posting I found cited in c/o 2016 cited c/o 2015 info. I'm sure the system could change from year to year, but I don't think there's enough information to determine either way what the email means-- if it means anything at all.CaptainJapan wrote:I just cruised c/o 2016, seems the LOR thank you letters don't correlate with any specific decision...one poster from that year says he got dinged after his recommenders received thank you notes.

Re: Georgetown c/o 2018 Applicants
I don't know that an email indicates whether or not a specific applicant should expect a decision soon. I think it means that decisions in general will be mailed soon. Looks like in previous years the email didn't necessarily indicate acceptance. I'm bummed they took away the dates on the status checker. In previous years that seemed to be accurate of when you should expect a response. Either way, I'll be sure to update when I get my decision.niplomo wrote:Not going to lie Im pretty jealous you guys are days away from getting responses. deferred? what is that?Peta wrote:Hi guys. I was recently deferred by GULC (poor numbers, great softs). I was told that a final decision will be made no later than the end of January. Would it be wise if I retook the LSAT in December? I imagine I could improve my score about 4 points, but very well may still fall short of their LSAT median.
Appreciate your feedback.

no sarcasm! but like grey said, there will probably not be a lot of hating. which means that the hate will be all that more concentrated for the sad losers who tell you 'no, thanks'.xylocarp wrote:this might be sarcasm but I still <3 you, handhereisonehand wrote:They better. nice job grey!
to everyone: just fyi (from the "what to expect when you're expecting" thread), gtown sends decisions by snail mail, but you can also check the admitted students' website by clicking "no password" and putting in your information. it should allow you to make an account if you've already been admitted.
