I just withdrew from Northwestern (with 10k/year) after getting into UPenn off the wait list. Hope my spot and that money goes to one of you! I haven't been checking this thread but PM if I can help in any way.

Every time I call (I've called 3 times) I get the same "we will be making more acceptances but we don't know when/how many" answer.

Have any of you guys called on wednesdays and talked to someone on the admissions committee?

Same answer I've been getting. I might try this wednesday but I sincerely doubt anyone will go beyond the "we continue to review applications throughout the summer" script.

Hi all - I managed to call earlier today and the admissions staff said that historically they've admitted people up to and including the first day of class and this year they're expecting "more of the same". Take that as you will.

Not on the waitlist nor do I have specific knowledge of NU's waitlist policies, but many schools will use the waitlist as a form of yield protection. They will only admit people off the waitlist if they are reasonably sure that the applicant will accept the offer. I know Penn and Harvard will explicitly ask you what you would do if you receive an offer of admission immediately before making the offer because they don't want their yield percentage to go down when they can essentially get the answer to the offer before it is formally extended and thereby a part of the admission statistics.

Oh well, currently here in Chicago at The John Marshall Law School and am thoroughly enjoying it.
