Re: UGA c/o 2017 Applicants (2013-2014)
Why is this thread so moribund? I figured a Top 30 school would have more activity.
Anyway, has anyone received a bump in scholarship since that email asking for us to reserve our scholarship?

I emailed them and they told me that they don't anticipate being able to increase scholarships until after the deposit deadline since so many admits claimed their scholarships by submitting that form.

They really should have assumed that since there was no downside to reserving it. In any case, I just sent in a negotiation request in with a full tuition scholarship from Wake Forest. Between the offers at Emory and Wake Forest, I don't think I can consider UGA unless I have a receive a compelling scholarship increase.amh wrote:I emailed them and they told me that they don't anticipate being able to increase scholarships until after the deposit deadline since so many admits claimed their scholarships by submitting that form.

They gave me a good initial scholarship, but I would feel more comfortable with a little bit of an increase. I haven't deposited yet, but I will be sending it in later this week. I am more than likely going to end up at UGA too, but I did deposit elsewhere already, but I don't think I will end up there. It is an amazing school for the price.

yeah and not only is it an amazing school but I really like the UGA culture and athens. i think it could be argued that its the best collegial atmosphere/environment/place to attend law school as far as experience while youre there goes in the top 30
but then again im from the south and was raised on SEC football so im biased. i think there is something to be said about athens, GA that is comparable to say an Austin, TX

Yeah, the culture there, I felt like, was much better than the other school that I visited. I am also from the south (not florida, because it's not the south. lol) and was raised up an Auburn fan, so it might be a little tough to have to root for UGA, but I think I could get used to it.thevuch wrote:yeah and not only is it an amazing school but I really like the UGA culture and athens. i think it could be argued that its the best collegial atmosphere/environment/place to attend law school as far as experience while youre there goes in the top 30

I got my first seat deposit email confirmation today and at the end of the email it read "if you decide to not attend Georgia please let the admissions office know immediately so your place can be offered to someone on the waiting list"

War Eagle! Yeah, if Auburn had a law school, I'd go there in a heartbeat. Lol. I'll probably still be rooting for Auburn against UGA too.thevuch wrote:i honestly was raised an auburn fan too. grew up in jordan hare. war eagle man, its too damn bad auburn doesnt have a decent law school cause if so thats where i'd be. and yeah i think we can get used to it man, i think ill be pullin for auburn against uga tho but anybody else itll come naturally to say go dawgs

Just got the same email from Ramsey. I will likely be withdrawing my admission and scholarship offers soon.amh wrote:I emailed them and they told me that they don't anticipate being able to increase scholarships until after the deposit deadline since so many admits claimed their scholarships by submitting that form.
EDIT: First deposit is $150? I thought it was a lot higher.

Has anyone inquired or know from past applicants the % accepted off of the Waitlist?

Decided to take the plunge and accept at UGA last week. Today I got a call about a Research Clerkship scholarship. Anyone else got this or have any additional info on the offer?

Received increase to $12,500 (from $7,500) per year, in addition to the in-state equalizer. I had sent in two requests and had been told they would not have more money until after May 1. Just received the email this afternoon (4/30). Will be withdrawing this evening. Hope my place and/or scholarship goes to a TLSer!

I don't know if this link has been shared yet here but I used http://www.bulldogrent.com to find my apartment. (Current 1L) I live by myself and pay $650 a month plus power and cable which I feel like is in the middle. Some people I know who have roommates pay less than that and some people who live in really nice complexes pay more. There definitely seems to be a good variety and most places are pretty close to campus.thevuch wrote:didnt hear anything about that but got an increase

Seriously? What are you waiting for?
