Even though I'm not a URM and my GPA is quite a bit below most of my schools' medians and even 25s?

But thanks for the warning
Speaking of shitstorms, my students are having a Socratic seminar about human evolution right now and I think someone is going to get in a fight! It's heated!

Sweet baby jesus. This thread cannot resist the recurring facepalm. "Is he a splitter?" .... "Is she a splitter?" ... "It's just Pat!"francesfarmer wrote: For the record I don't care if she posts here, I just wanted to let her know about the previous shitstorm in case it was going to happen again
In this case, the Collegium seems to have blinked before the collision. Still, I think a person needs an LLM in Forum Law to know whether it is permissible to post here.

Did I somehow restart the shitstorm by referencing it? My bad. Fortunately there doesn't seem to be anyone arguing that she's not a splitter.kingsfield69 wrote:Sweet baby jesus. Had a very non-splitter-esque moment today when I got into Berkeley off faculty review.
VERY, VERY pleasant surprise. Boalt-hopeful splitters with strong softs: there is hope in FR.

Held at Harvard.
This is funny now. It's like throwing darts at a wall. Harvard and Penn can't make up their minds, but GW only offered 30k total and UT/Berkeley rejected me outright. No idea what to make of any of this. The fact that I have about 15 apps pending since November seems to suggest I'm going to be a strong contender for the WL championship.

You're a splitter. Such is the life. Forget about H and P. Be patient and you will be rewarded.WaitingandHopeful wrote:Held at Harvard.

Re: Splitter Results for 2012-2013 App Cycle
Thanks! Not sure which thread you saw that in, but yeah, I came pretty close to going to GULC last year (and almost went to UMN the year before that, before I retook). Now that the wait is almost over, I'm really glad that I took my time to go to a better school. I used the time to get some managerial experience and mature a little, which I think will put me in a stronger position both as a student and as a job applicant compared to if I had started one or two years ago.ChampagnePapi wrote:Congrats! Nice, easy, stress-free cycle.
I would like to point out to any splitters that haven't applied yet (I think most people in this thread are past that point), that personal statement and other soft factors may be a bigger consideration than for students who have strong numbers on both sides of the slash. I was rejected ED to UVA last year when I applied ED in December, and was accepted this year when I applied ED in September.
Aside from timing, my only difference was the personal statement. It was pretty bad before, and I wrote something much better the next time. So take your time on that, and if possible get some help from someone credible.

Edited for FebruaryBadges!?! wrote:I don't quite meet the 3.3 cutoff for this thread, but I figured 3.40/170 was close enough.
All apps were submitted in November, save Yale and Northwestern, which went in December. No Why X statements were written. Plenty of work experience is the only soft. Cornell and Texas were EA, all others RD. The only interview was an off-campus with Northwestern.
As disclaimer, I'm well aware that applying to the T6 was a waste of app fees, but I'd rather hear no than wonder.

Penn - January admit
