Good deal, I'll be there too. Assuming we should suit up, yeah?

Hrm. Hadn't thought of that, but I'm thinking that might be a bit too formal. I'll lurk previous years' threads on the topic.Paraflam wrote:Good deal, I'll be there too. Assuming we should suit up, yeah?

Went to two ASWs last year (albeit not top 30 schools) and can't remember anyone in a suit. I wore Dockers and a tucked in dress shirt and I felt overdressed. Although I 100% support anyone suiting up at any time so I say go for it.

Just wear whatever makes you happy. If you're visiting classes, all of us will be wearing jeans to get our "learn" on. If you wear a suit you'll stand out more, but some of us like to randomly say hi to prospectives and that would make it easy for us to find you. I've sometimes done this if in a good mood. But if you'll be happier and more comfortable in jeans, then go for it.

on the contrary, wearing a suit is a power move. If you want to set the record straight to all the other prospective students at ASW that you're the top gunner, suit up with an American Flag pin.Randomnumbers wrote:Don't be that kid in the suit.

They reimburse you up to $200 for your travel expenses. Remember to ask for a reimbursement form and attach any travel-related receipts with it before you leave. Unfortunately you won't actually get the money for 2-3 weeks because it takes time to process it =/.anteater1 wrote:Clifford mentioned a possible travel stipend during the interview, if I get one ill see you guys at ASW

TatteredDignity and I beg to differ. #teamshortsfl0w wrote:If you're visiting classes, all of us will be wearing jeans to get our "learn" on.
If you want to intimidate your prospective classmates, by all means. Otherwise, it's definitely not necessary. The norm for guys is probably button-down/slacks.Paraflam wrote:Good deal, I'll be there too. Assuming we should suit up, yeah?

I'm on my phone, so I can't link it right now, but I saw someone last year who traveled from Virginia expecting to be eligible for the stipend, but he was never officially offered it by the school and ended up not getting it. Do not make travel plans assuming you'll have the stipend until you actually are extended the offer by the school. If you buy a ticket now, do it because you're excited about visiting and view the stipend as an added bonus.anteater1 wrote:Clifford mentioned a possible travel stipend during the interview, if I get one ill see you guys at ASW

I certainly would like to go to ASW but I dont know if I could afford it. Flights are expensive. Maybe I will try a train.

Definitely call ahead and confirm that they'll give you a travel stipend before you make plans. Although I'm not sure why someone from Virginia wouldn't qualify for one..I was flying in from New York and I didn't have a problem. Also, I didn't ask for a stipend for ASW, since I couldn't make it to that. I just visited the school on my own and they offered me a stipend.

Re: WUSTL c/o 2016
Here's what I was talking about
It seems like, for him, it may have been that the offers for the stipend were sent out on January 4th, but he wasn't admitted until the 5th. The moral of the story is that, since it's a service that not many schools offer and WUSTL does not advertise the stipend as a general policy but rather one that only select students get, it would be unwise to assume you're getting it until you hear from the school.

Re: WUSTL c/o 2016
Ohhh i see, makes sense. Yeah they offered me the stipend after I inquired about visiting, it wasn't something I knew about/asked for. (I wasn't admitted until the end of January last cycle due to an early January submission). But agree that it would be unwise to assume that you'll get one.alwayssunnyinfl wrote:Here's what I was talking about

It'll depend on what your December LSAT is (I'm assuming you're waiting for a December score). But in general I don't think you'll be hurt too much as long as your numbers are around median99.9luft wrote:tag (applying in early Jan, hope it's not too late)
