I think their next scholarship up is a full ride which I don't see them giving to that gpa but of course it never hurts to ask!
I was just accepted with 35k a year, so debunk that myth.
In other news, I just received my packet! It had a 35k a year scholy!

Thanks for the great info Nova. Like your friend, I also applied to UVA and NU. I'll wait to hear from them before I reach out to UMN.

Definitely nothing to turn my nose up at, but my goal is to keep my debt around or below $100k, and this leaves me with $120K plus interest and higher travel costs than other schools closer to my family. Unfortunately, not viable at the moment, though I'll try to negotiate later on in the cycle. I hope everyone else gets what they're looking for! Good luck!

Does anyone know where I can find, a chart would suffice, of UMN's US News ranking over time?

Here is a link to the useless data you seek
Basically, Minnesota is pretty solidly #19
Pay no attention to Sunny, he is blatantly ignoring BU's great triumph in 2008 when it was the 21st most bestest law school in all the land, greater than even Minnesota!
That list is interesting though, I wonder if, say, USC considers Minnesota a peer based on rankings or no because they serve such different geographical areas.

George
Washington University and University of
Washington both share the #20 spot this year. They're practically identical in every way now.

I would think USC considers GW/UMN peers. Statistically, UMN has higher medians than UT, USC, and Cornell.
UMN schollys are really generous, often making the cost of attendece much lower than USC/GW. Splitters like Sunny are very valuable to UMN because of how they game medians. USC certainly wouldnt come close to matching a 90k scholly for a splitter. USC schollys from last cycle: 171/3.54 60k, 175/3.6 60k, 171/3.76 75k

Has anyone had any luck soliciting a fee waiver? I have gotten a few e-mails and snail mail letters inviting me to apply, and I figured I'd send out an app, but no fee waiver

Accepted with the $30k/yr package.
Congrats to everyone else who got accepted to this great school!
Now I'm most likely facing the decision of Michigan @ sticker vs. MN discounted.
You guys think the Michigan acceptance, even at sticker, might be enough to leverage me up to the $35/k yr package?
Still waiting to hear back from NU, interview went really well so fingers crossed.

Got an unknown number calling from MN while in the bathroom at work. Knew it had to be UMN but couldn't answer.. Anyways accepted via voicemail!
If anyone else has been in a similar situation, thoughts on if I should call back? The admissions director specifically said I could call back if I had any questions, so I'm thinking it's ok not to unless I actually have questions for him.

No reason to call back unless you have a reason to call back.

Yeah that's what I figured too, but wasn't sure if there was some kind of etiquette regarding this. Thanks.

I've missed two of these calls and they went to voice mail, one school offered me a half ride and the second (Minnesota in fact) offered a full ride. It's ok if you don't call back, they won't hold it against you or anything.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
