It means that you will be admitted today or tomorrow! I'm telling you, they're gonna love you more than they love me (I got a WL). Berk needs an old man in 2015.OldMan2015 wrote:Congrats to the guys that got in, and sorry for the people who were dinged. I haven't gotten a status checker update, e-mail, or phone call. No clue what this means.
Oh man, sorry about your WL but thanks for the good wishes. I hope you're right. Good luck with the waiting.kennethellenparcell wrote:It means that you will be admitted today or tomorrow! Also above their medians and rejected by email today, not to mention work experience in software development (which I figured would help).explorergirl wrote:Dinged via email- it's my first rejection and, as Berkeley was my top choice throughout most of the cycle, I am angry! It was a but of a surprise, as i am above their medians. Looks like NYU it is, berkeley's loss
Edit: congrats to everyone accepted !

I write to inform you that your application at UC Berkeley Law School has passed an initial administrative review and has been selected for further consideration by the Faculty Admissions Committee. The Committee will begin deliberation on your application on February 17. We anticipate a final decision will be reached on or around March 9.
I'll be in Rome! So whatever, that's not too shabby

Did you send your LOCI to the regular admissions@law.berkeley.edu??EMZE wrote:Nammertat wrote:Has anyone considered sending a LOCI after going to FR?
I got in today via a phone cal from Dean Tom @ 1105 MST. WRT your question, after all of the admits yesterday, I figured what the hell do I have to lose by sending in a LOC and did. Mind you, it wasn't the standard word document/pdf LOC, but just an e-mail addressed to Dean Tom saying how sincerely interested I am in Berkeley, how I have been impressed by the attitudes of the students, and mentioned a very specific conversation I had with a prof that I emailed months ago (with just that purpose in mind - showing I have genuine interest and goals for attending.
On top of all that, I am a 3.4/167 non-URM.
Not quite safe to say, but I have been a busy body and applied for jobs alongside law school. Since I am not a J-KD, and would not be starting at entry level, I recently had a consulting offer paying more than 100k start and in 2 years, much more than entry level biglaw, and by the third year significantly more. It isn't about the money; I want to enter Law. But I also need to make sure I make prudent decisions. Law will always be there, but it is career limiting compared to an MBA since it is essentially a terminal degree and is specific. Much easier to do an MBA then JD than the other way around. But yeah, after getting job offers, I am forcing myself to back away from law and look at all my options. Did I mention I want to start having kids in the next 2 years? A lot of factors to cosnder, and even though I essentially will be getting paid to go to Berkeley (for free) due to the GI bill and the 2200 a month living allowance, waiting a year and starting an M7 MBA, consulting for 5 or years, and then doing law school would be an option.Kurst wrote:Congrats EMZE!
