Also got the email and checking into Purgatory. I'm actually surprised I didn't get dinged right away with my #s. Maybe they just want to laugh at my file some more before tossing it into the fire...

Re: HELD @ HARVARD 2012 style
The Harvard process includes a phone interview for prospective admits. Approximately 900-1200 per year supposedly. All admits receive a second acceptance call. Folks around here use the initials of the current admissions dean +1 or 2 to signify the two calls and the email scheduling the first. Thus, JS1 now or KB1 earlier in the cycle.va323 wrote:also held this morning....can anyone tell me what JS1 KB1 KB2 etc. means

Does anyone have any idea when some of the held candidates could see some movement? I was held in mid-January. I'm not getting my hopes up, but I am just wondering when they might re-evaluate/ make final decisions on us...

No, many people who are held hear before then - at least that's how it's worked in previous cycles.

Agreed! The email actually says that you should hear before April...curiouscat wrote:No, many people who are held hear before then - at least that's how it's worked in previous cycles.

Re: HELD @ HARVARD 2012 style
Alright maybe stated that incorrectly... I went back and checked my email and it says that if you don't hear before April, you should reserve a seat at another school... to me, that kind of implies that we should have a decision before then and assume the worst if we don't.Killingly wrote:My email definitely does not say that.Elendil wrote:Agreed! Re: HELD @ HARVARD 2012 style
My email says that they will try to make final decisions as soon as possible. However, it also contains the caveat that if I haven't heard from Harvard by mid-April, I might want to reserve a spot at another law school.Killingly wrote:My email definitely does not say that.Elendil wrote:Agreed! I was just trying to gain some insight into how this works for people who have been held in past cycles. It seems like March/April would be likely, but I don't know how things are working this year. If they held way more people than usual, maybe it could be earlier...

Put another LOR in the mail today.
Hopefully I can submit it before I get a verdict I don't want.

Re: HELD @ HARVARD 2012 style
In previous cycles, some people started getting post-hold interviews something like a couple of weeks later, although most people heard back later. With the delays in decisions this year, it might be taking a little longer, but I expect that at least a few people who got held will start hearing back (one way or another) pretty soon.

Held as well, although with my numbers I can't really be disappointed.

I'm interested in comparing with others who were held with low numbers. I am <170, <3.8, non-URM. PM me if you'd like to waste some time brainstorming about why we might have been held rather than rejected!

Since Jeremy Lin is famous now, would it show poor judgment if I sent a LOCI to Harvard saying I think Harvard is right for me because it has better placement to the NBA Knicks than its peer schools?

Maybe not to the Knicks, but Stanford has FAR better NBA placement than Harvard.WhiteGuy5 wrote:Since Jeremy Lin is famous now, would it show poor judgment if I sent a LOCI to Harvard saying I think Harvard is right for me because it has better placement to the NBA Knicks than its peer schools?
