Waitlisted too. This might be a good thing--I was leaning towards Chicago-Kent anyway.

i was wl'd too, what the fuck? I looked on LSN and no one with our numbers was waitlisted last year. 164/3.1, and you were 165/3.0. I just can't believe that. It was never a question for me about getting in, it was about how much money they were going to give me. I'm not terribly bummed, as I wasn't really certain about LUC anyways given their stinginess with scholarship awards, BUT STILL! Waitlisted...what the hell. Our numbers aren't good enough to blame some sort of YP, so I guess they just had some solid apps this year. I had good softs and a strong PS, combining that with my numbers I thought I would be in for sure. This is very strange. Maybe they look at Chicago residency as being a big boost? Anyways, I'm just really surprised.PizzaShrapnel wrote:waitlisted... taking my name out of the hat. Good luck everyone else!

Beats me. My numbers on paper aren't nearly as good as either of yours, (161/2.65)... perhaps they look at rigor of the undergraduate major? I was an engineering major.mattviphky wrote:i was wl'd too, what the fuck? I looked on LSN and no one with our numbers was waitlisted last year. 164/3.1, and you were 165/3.0. Also, I don't buy the Chicago residency thing, seeing as how I live in Denver.
Best of luck to you guys, though...

Not meant to make anyone feel bad, just submitting this for though:
I got accepted as a liberal arts music major with a 158, 3.5. Normal softs, good recs I guess, decent resume but still only right out of undergrad.
I'm probably not going to LUC because I won't get much money, and the Chicago market seems terrifying. But, the only thing I can think of as far as admission goes is that they are trying to avoid splitters in an attempt to make a rankings jump...

I don't know that wait listing 164, 165, and 167 (just examples from the three of us I quoted here) is going to be very beneficial to them.checkster wrote:Not meant to make anyone feel bad, just submitting this for though:

I don't know if they will make much of a ratings jump by waitlisting 164, 165, 167s. I went to an info session at Loyola, and it seemed like they showed the most interest in candidates who submitted additional essays (particularly, the why Loyola Chicago one). I am very sorry to hear about the waitlists and dings, but I'm sure all of you have already gotten into/will get into even better schools.

Re: Loyola Chicago 2011-2012 cycle
Although I did submit all of the essays, I really wasn't all that interested in going. It seems like a nice school, but the COA is just too high for me. I guess the good thing is that none of us 3 were seriously considering the school...still, acceptances are nice. Maybe they suspect marginal interest, and they are waiting to see who actually sticks around through the waitlist process? Idk, idc.chunkers24 wrote:I don't know if they will make much of a ratings jump by waitlisting 164, 165, 167s. Re: Loyola Chicago 2011-2012 cycle
Got accepted last Monday!!! Hoping to get some scholarship money but its highly unlikely with my 156/3.7. However, they are starting to look better then both DePaul and Kent (who I was also accepted to) after the current press release by the ABA.

Lets hope Loyola sees some potential in me and gives me a little bit of cash/

We should be getting our packets any day now. I'm really excited to see what's inside. Anyone thinking of going to the Admitted Students Day in March?

Maybe. Trying to go to one of DePaul's days as well, but its tough to get out to Chicago twice in a month. And I still haven't heard back from Kent...

Makes sense. I think I'm going to just focus on Loyola for now, especially after the lawsuit with DePaul and Kent.checkster wrote:Maybe. Trying to go to one of DePaul's days as well, but its tough to get out to Chicago twice in a month. And I still haven't heard back from Kent...

Yeah, I just read it and was like, huh. What gets me about DePaul is the stips...if I can't keep a scholarship, I can't really justify going to that school. I can't make it out to Chicago twice in one month, esp not March, so I'm just going March 30 on my own.CPM723 wrote:Makes sense. I visited the three last year, so I guess I don't really need to worry about making trips to all of them, probably just end up going to Loyola's ASW.

Totally agree, I really liked Kent so I'm definitely going to watch and see if they have a press release explaining anything. I was going to go to the Loyola one in March but I wanted to go at a time during the week so I'm going towards the end of Feb. on a Wednesday. I'm in a tough place now because I was offered $17,000 at Drake but I don't want to be stuck in Iowa (where 63% of their grads place) after I am done with law school. Thinking about negotiating a little although Kent and Loyola are nowhere near the same level as Drake.
It's good to know about getting our packets. I've been running to the mailbox everyday this week lol.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
