I'm leaning against Maryland because of having to accept within two weeks. I've been accepted at better ranked schools (Georgetown, UTexas, WashU) and I'll just have to hope I get some scholarship from them as well.Ziiish wrote:So has anyone decided they're going to Maryland next year? The person with whom I spoke didn't sound like the 2 weeks thing was binding. Did they explicitly tell you if you accept the scholarship you have to enroll?cch24 wrote:I'm leaning against Maryland because of having to accept within two weeks. I speifically asked and the woman told me that agreeing to the scholarship is not binding and does not mean you are committing to attending. I am waiting to get my letter to see exactly what it says though because the having to approve it within two weeks doesnt make any sense to metennisking88 wrote:The person with whom I spoke didn't sound like the 2 weeks thing was binding. So wait if it's not binding does that mean I can just accept it and wait until after the scholarship day to decide for sure. I think it'd be nice to go the event to get a feel for the program before I fully committ

Re: Maryland Applicants c/o 2015
Binding or not, I have been doing a lot of research on different schools, areas I would like to live in, the amount of debt I'm willing to take on, and I'm going to start withdrawing from schools in the next few weeks. I also have other scholarships of similar or larger amounts from similar ranked schools to use for negotiations. Basically, I don't think Maryland is for me.
The woman I spoke with on the phone also explicitly asked that I not post the amount offered on any social networking sites. I see some people have posted the amounts and I'm wondering if I was the only one who got the warning? If it matters my offer was higher than those I've seen posted in this thread.

I hope I get a call or email about money. My fingers and toes are crossed.

I don't understand how this whole scholarship process works. I haven't received any notification at all about merit scholarship, and haven't been invited to interview, etc.... Is it random how they send these things out?

Agreed, I am confused, as well. Does no mention of scholarships in the acceptance package = no scholarship forthcoming? Some concrete info would be nice, even if it's, "Sorry no scholarship for you, sucka."skolks wrote:I don't understand how this whole scholarship process works. I agree. I need to know if I should be considering this school or preparing to withdraw.B986 wrote:Agreed, I am confused, as well. I highly recommend contacting schools about scholarships using the ground rules in the link below. They know that law school is expensive and many/most will need help paying for it. They won't be angry with you asking about scholarship funding unless you're annoying/aggressive about it.

Decision made today. I applied the first week of January. I'm nervous. How long did it usually take?

Does Maryland send one massive rejection or one massive acceptance batch? Or do they send a mixture of acceptances/denials at one time?
@tonymontana: I don't believe they will tell you via the phone.
