Thanks for all the comments everyone. I decided to do the trip and by flying in at a different location and flying out of raleigh-durham I was able to make the trip an extra $20 or so (thanks greyhound!) It's extra time too, but I'm hoping it is worth it. If not, I visit some nice parts of North Carolina for the day.

It's not cheap, but a reasonably priced awesome hotel is aloft. It's a pretty nice place. Also, don't stay at the Red Roof Inn at exit 270!YouDontKnowMe wrote:Sorry, I haven't answered because I don't know :/TIKITEMBO wrote:Additionally, anyone have good recommendations on cheap motels around UNC? I'm not picky.

If you decide you need a hotel, I googled and found Days Inn at 1312 North Fordham Boulevard for $60/night.TIKITEMBO wrote:Thanks for all the comments everyone. Don't stare at the status checker! They should email you when they have a decision for you. Go have fun and try not to think about it more than once every day or two.

I went complete at the end of November and was accepted in mid-December.
UNC was one of the quickest responses I received.
166/3.67 OOS
I haven't received any information on scholarships yet

Anyone heard about scholarships (sorry to those still waiting for a decision)? I thought they said we would know something by early March - its March now.

Admit email says:SPE155 wrote:Anyone heard about scholarships (sorry to those still waiting for a decision)? I thought they said we would know something by early March - its March now.
"Scholarship offers for those that will receive them, will be made in late February or the first week of March at the latest. Scholarship offers will be sent by email. We also will notify those that haven't received a scholarship by email also. "
I'd assume the first full week of March, meaning we should know by next Friday at the latest.

From the admitted students website:
"Scholarship awards will be made by March 9, for those who will receive a scholarship award. The awards notification will be sent via email and will include the amount of the award and the terms for renewal."

Based on the experience of applicants from last year, it would probably best for your mental health to completely ignore any "we will send out [information] by" dates that you get from them. Hang in there, y'all :/LawSchool2015 wrote:I'll have my fingers and toes crossed for the both of us. Just confirmed my spot for the April 13th Admitted Students Day - excited to come visit and see the school. Anyone else planning on attending on the 13th? (Sorry, there isn't an "In at UNC" group).

Just found this. It is the info for my 1L class. Not sure if it is helpful or very redundant since most probably know the stats, but I decided to post anyway.

Re: UNC c/o 2015 Applicants (2011-2012 cycle)
I am a UNC graduate, and initially, UNC was high on my list despite my hopes of getting into "better" schools. They have a relatively developed program for what I want to concentrate on, and being in-state, the financial side of things looked better, as well.
Now, I am in at "better" schools, and I have been offered substantial money there. UNC's disorganized and completely non-communicative admissions process has pretty much turned me off to considering the school, even if I do get in.
I hope that someone from the admissions committee reads this post and takes note of how detrimental their admissions process is to their recruitment of a higher level of admit.
It's a shame, because I am a Tar Heel for life no matter where I go to law school, and I greatly enjoyed my undergraduate years there, but they have not impressed me in this process.
Go Heels, beat Dook!

This is my first time posting on TLS, but I am addicted to reading the what are my chances threads and reading about who's getting in where.
My UNC app went complete on 1/17, anybody else in the same boat?
I am hoping that I will be competitive for UNC (with some $$ too?). I have a 162 and a 3.4lsac GPA, but my GPA gets dragged down by a bad first year in 2003. I graduated last may with a 3.9 from the Guilford College, so I am hoping they weigh that in my favor. My last 80+ hours were at a 3.9 so that should help right? I am also a NC resident, but a white male.
Any thoughts....?
I think with UNC Law, if you want to go there and are qualified, however loosely defined, the longer you are willing to wait to find out whether they accept you, the more likely you are to get accepted. Crazy stories about people getting in off waitlists the first day of classes and moving three states, etc. DO apply to a public institution. But maybe worth it. Can't really tell until you've waited a long time, I guess.
The same would be true for a lot of the larger public law schools anywhere, really, but specifically in California, probably.

This may have already been asked, but does everyone else have the following in the bottom right hand side of the application status checker? (these are all 'unchecked' for me):
International Applicants List Below
Financial Certificate
Foreign Residency Form (residents only)

No. But getting a scholarship to UNC Law is about as easy as squeezing blood from an Australian quartz crystal. HTH.
