I don't think it's your UG. I think GW and others schools are cutting down their class sizes. There's no other reason, with the number of applicants at the lowest level in a decade, that GW couldn't have at least waitlisted someone with a 167/3.5.ThreeRivers wrote:Rejected
167/3.44
It was probably my top choice, also worried about rest of my cycle
I knew it was far from an auto admit, and I was about 80% sure I'd be WL, kind of surprised by the quick reject
I'm now expecting to underperform this cycle...
edit: Yea, just looked according to LSN I have about the best numbers for the outright rejections (looks like rest were WL)... fuck I'm thinking my shitty undergrad will be the death of me

Also, I think that a high GPA really helps at GW. They seem to like reverse splitters as well.

I'm not sure if there is NO other reason, but that is more than a little surprising. A 3.44/167 not even getting waitlisted? not a good sign at all.

I find in odd that some of the lower ranked schools (respectively) are becoming "stricter", whereas some of the top 10 schools seem to be more lenient.

You are right, this seems to be a trend (like M this year). Maybe the rankings changed their formula or something.msblaw89 wrote:I find in odd that some of the lower ranked schools (respectively) are becoming "stricter", whereas some of the top 10 schools seem to be more lenient.

Sorry you didnt get in. I was referring to the 3.8/166 person who got in and the 3.5/167 who didn't get in. GW has a pretty high median GPA that they are trying to keep.Rdubs wrote:BigJohnso wrote:Also, I think that a high GPA really helps at GW. They seem to like reverse splitters as well.

Lol thanks and I'm tryingfltanglab wrote:Being rejected sucks. I've had that happen 3 times already. But you could easily get accepted somewhere else, so don't lose hope!
I've been accepted into Washington and Lee / rejected from Texas and now GW
The Texas one really didn't bother me at all because I really expected it / was over it by the time I was done reading the e-mail
The GW really surprised me, and its not the actual rejection that has me upset but fear that something is wrong with my app that I'm not seeing and I'll underperform this cycle lol
I have a 3.44 gpa, but sadly that's with a 0.00 gpa in my freshman year (have gotten all 4.0's since). I obviously wrote an addendum and I was kind of hoping this would be a "good" soft in that my gpa was a 3.9+ if you take away one semester. Maybe schools are instead viewing it as a "this kid has the potential to have that 0.00 again" (even if that was 5 years ago lol)

Re: GW c/o 2015 Applicants (2011-2012 cycle)
Since we are practically numbers twins, now I am fearing a rejection. I have checked my email like 50 times today. I have had a similar GPA trend too (2.75 freshman year, 3.7+ since), but no addendum. Every day I wanna kick myself for being such a dumbass freshman.ThreeRivers wrote:Lol thanks and I'm tryingfltanglab wrote:Being rejected sucks. I've had that happen 3 times already. I find their rejection e-mail kind of funny btw
Lol at them sending the same e-mail to people with 2.2's / 148 lsatsGiven the strength of your application, we have no doubt that you will be offered admission to a number of fine law schools. We wish you great success in your legal studies at the institution you ultimately decide to attend.

Apparently GW isn't giving much love to splitters this year. I really hope my December LSAT increases by at least a point, or else my anticipated W/L -> Acceptance becomes an auto-ding.

Re: GW c/o 2015 Applicants (2011-2012 cycle)
Sorry to everyone who got dinged today. Sheesh, at this point I'm just praying for a WL.
It certainly seems like they are trying to reduce their class size this year, and that probably isn't a bad thing for GW to do--aren't they notorious for having extremely large classes? If they go from 500 to 300 matriculants, cutting out the bottom 200, they may have the potentintial to increase their medians significantly. But it does suck for those of us that thought having numbers around last years 75th percentile, would give us a good shot at getting in. 75th percentile looks like a crapshoot this year.
