I feel like even if a parking ticket/speeding ticket is a "crime" in PA, the matter of if it's a crime in the state in which it occurred is more important. But, I would disclose everything because it's not going to matter anyway.

AFAIK Penn does not need traffic violation addenda. None of the T14 do (supposedly). It's a civil offense, not a criminal one

agreed. It probably varies by state, but to my knowledge in most states it is a civil infraction, not a misdemeanor. However, in some states it might become a misdemeanor in extreme cases, like 100mph in a 25mph school zone. you should see what the law is in your state.

It would seem to me that it could actually hurt you if you declare what is a civil infraction if they only ask for misdemeanors and felonies. It raises the question, "Were you just too lazy to google the law in your state?"

A good number of schools ask for speeding type tickets. A huge number of people have those.

Moving vs. non-moving violations makes a big difference. And, fair enough, my knowledge is admittedly restricted to the T-14 applications.

Agreed, I'm just saying that I doubt the number of people who would need to include an addendum is a factor. It's not like it really makes a difference, I sent a quick update to schools that I originally sent a C&F addendum to for my moving violations updating it and saying something along the lines of "I was made aware parking tickets may need to be disclosed too, so to err on the side of caution and comply with full disclosure, I'm updating my C&F with these parking tickets."

I guess the question is, do you think adcoms are going to take a lack of disclosure as evidence of mens rea or simply as oversight of what is by all accounts a minor, non-criminal offense? The kind of person who would intend to deceive an adcom by withholding parking and non-criminal moving violations is a weird one indeed.

EDIT: I suppose if you contributed to an accident or something, then that would be grounds for revealing the incident. But for those of us who were merely caught speeding 5 years ago at 20 over the limit, I doubt there'll be any issue at all.

I did not disclose any traffic tickets. Don't need to. You can call admissions and ask for peace of mind but you do not need to disclose summary traffic tickets. You can of course get more serious offenses from traffic (DUI, reckless endangerment, etc.).

Edit: Crimes are listed in PA code under Title 18. Traffic is under Title 75. The only one I would consider disclosing under Title 75 is §3802 DUI.

Actually though, I did email Penn about this a few days ago, and their response was:

"In furtherance of full disclosure, we recommend briefly detailing any traffic violations, including speeding tickets."
