90K. A nice offer and no complaints, but this money will be going back into the USC system. I hope it finds a worthy home.

It's so frustrating that they're mailing aid offers! Since I live in Canada, it means I'll most likely have another 10 days to 2 weeks wait before getting anything! I'll say it again- Canada Post sucks!

Not sure if this the correct place for this, but has anyone looked into housing in the USC area? Any decent websites or other contact info? I have already looked on Google, etc.
I am planning on renting a studio near campus to avoid driving in LA traffic.

Sounds like a lot of people have already made their minds up on schools and are throwing their money right back at USC.

this is exactly it, i think people are displeased with the amount of money being offered. I for one am grateful, though i really wish i could have gotten that 15,000k more total (I got 75,000), i'd have sent in my deposit that day.

I think it is all relative. It would take close to a full scholly to make sense compared to my other offers. But I am grateful for being accepted nonetheless.glitter178 wrote:r6_philly wrote:Pick up any 2 offers, put them together for me pleasepereira6 wrote:Sounds like a lot of people have already made their minds up on schools and are throwing their money right back at USC.

I think USC has been pretty generous, so I'm not unhappy with their offer. I just think that, if you wait this long to release scholarship information, you need to wow people who have already had $$ offers for months and have already started making plans.

i definitely don't think they're being stingy, i just think they are in a hard place b/c they are the safety school to many who will wind up in the t-14. they get applicants with amazing numbers who aren't going to be swayed without significant coin (meaning, nearly a full scholarship)Bildungsroman wrote:I think USC has been pretty generous, so I'm not unhappy with their offer. Haha. Well, I do miss the US and look forward to possibly moving back, but I am thankful that I was able to immigrate to Canada to start a life with my partner at a time when it was impossible for him to get a visa to live in the States. The States can learn a few things from Canada (gay rights and health care to name a couple !)glitter178 wrote:jakersatcal wrote:It's so frustrating that they're mailing aid offers! Doesn't really work that way, (reassessment don't usually happen until after deposit deadline) and I am waiting on financial aid. I am going to withdraw from Michigan this week, maybe Duke too.Redsgomarchingon wrote: well please hurry up and narrow down some of your decisions. People on waitlists would be quite appreciative

while your individual withdrawal might not lead to someone immediately or even ultimately getting a seat, a general culture of quick withdrawals (when it's obvious you won't attend the school) would allow schools to reach into their wait-listed applicants sooner. Schools waiting to make decisions on their wait-listed candidates (particularly t-14 schools) likely hold off as long as they do because applicants wait to withdraw until last minute (I should also point out that many schools have already begun admitting wait-listed candidates, including Duke)r6_philly wrote:Doesn't really work that way, (reassessment don't usually happen until after deposit deadline) and I am waiting on financial aid. well goodluck to you. Hopefully you get some offers in the next week that makes your decision simple (or at least rule out Duke haha)r6_philly wrote:I haven't finalized my decision yet.
I think the highest offer I've seen on LSN (besides rothman) for USC is $120,000. Don't think I saw anybody post that on TLS

Thanks! I think Duke and Michigan are out, I just haven't cut the cord yet. Have to talk it over again at home about Duke. Can't justify going to Duke over UVA right now.Redsgomarchingon wrote:well goodluck to you. I'm wondering what it would take to get offered 120k... that person's numbers did not seem extreme, and their cycle did not indicate anything particularly out of the ordinary (as opposed to, say, neonx). No offense to them, I'm sure they're wonderful and deserving... I just want to know if the possibility exists of negotiating 90 up to 115/120 or so...

Since it is so late, should I just call them and ask if they would give me 120k?mr_toad wrote:I'm wondering what it would take to get offered 120k... that person's numbers did not seem extreme, and their cycle did not indicate anything particularly out of the ordinary (as opposed to, say, neonx). Saves time. If you'd only go there for 120k, go for it?
