Lol considering I live here and I haven't heard that it's not looking good..

I'll let you know if I come across more info about it.
Bummer.

Thanks. Are you saying you haven't heard any mention of it? Or you haven't heard of it being completed anytime soon?

--LinkRemoved--)

EDIT: Apparently phase 1 (downton westward) is supposed to begin opertations in April 2012 now.
And phase 2 (to santa monica) has been delayed to 2014/2015.

I've definitely heard it but I hadn't heard about it being completed (or even started) anytime soon.

That really sucks that they aren't starting it soon, it's such an awesome idea :( . IIRC, there's been a lot of push for it but CA is just too broke right now.

Well there are 2 lines, there's the expo line, which is currently under construction, and the wilshire line or "subway to the sea" which is going through preliminary environmental impact reports. The expo line is being built in 2 phases with phase 1 starting in the heart of downtown (7th/metro station), going south, turning west at USC, and following exposition down to culver city. This is the phase expected to open this summer. Phase 2, which will continue from culver city to the beach isn't expected to open for another 3-4 years after that.

edit: Sorry, to continue, the wilshire line is being contemplated in a couple formats, none of which will have any bearing on you unless you choose to stay in LA after law school as well. The current format is looking to extend the purple line down Wilshire, terminating at the VA (still 3ish miles from the ocean) and then being extended after that.

These types of threads are usually just people who are currently applying. Though I think if you go back a few pages 2-3 actual students stopped by. I suggest you try the "discuss your law school" threads and see if there are any for Loyola LA.

Ha, yea, I got the same scholarship and was doing the math the other day. 87k is A LOT of money, but it's depressing how expensive tuition + COL still is.

The biggest problem is the 30% stipulation on their scholarships.

Agreed, esp since I have a different scholarship with a stip that essentially means that I need to stay in the top 70% given their curve. :?
*Edit* But I'm still really grateful that they gave me such a large scholarship!

This. Does anyone know if schools are willing to negotiate stipulations?

I'm going to give it a try soon. I would consider attending Loyola with a larger and unstipulated scholarship, but as it stands, I wouldn't so I figure I've got nothing to lose by asking.

Seriously...which is why it makes me think I would be better off at a school like W&L or CU Boulder. Loyola's stipulation would make me want to study even harder to keep the scholarship, but at the same time that is a lot of added pressure in an already pressured packed environment, which law school clearly is.

Question:

I submitted my app Jan 11 and still has not received an email confirmation from LLS. All the other schools I applied to emailed something the next day. Is LLS just slow or is there a glitch?

Mid-December applicant, decision mailed today. Much quicker than I expected; their admissions office is on it.

Sorry if this was asked before and I missed it, but do they offer any unstipulated scholarships? Seems we're all getting very similar offers with the same qualification attached to them.
