Unfortunately, it comes via good old USPS, about 7-10 days after decision rendered.

Accepted this morning, hopefully I can get solid $ that would make attending reasonable.

I got an email today offering me a $5000 Public Service Award, guaranteeing a paid job ($5000) for the summer between years one and two. Anybody know anything about this?

I got the same thing. It sounds like a pretty good deal given job insecurity, guarantees getting your foot in the door somewhere. But I couldn't find any other info on it.bgb1016 wrote:I got an email today offering me a $5000 Public Service Award, guaranteeing a paid job ($5000) for the summer between years one and two. Received packet in the mail today! 25k per year renewable for all three years as long as I keep a 3.2. That's quite an incentive.

Yeah, even with the scholarship I got, it would be cheaper to go to another school I was accepted to at sticker (still waiting on scholarship info from them, but the sticker price being almost half of DePaul was eye-opening).denada! wrote:I'm in too! 25k/year.. but its still a pretty expensive school.

Re: DePaul Law School 2014
A lot of state schools in-state tuition are far cheaper than Depaul. For instance UNC in-state is $37,000 Cost Of Attendance whereas Depaul is 62,226. Even if one got a $25,000 scholarship to Depaul it would still be a little cheaper at UNC. This is also true for schools such as (Georgia, Alabama, Arizona, Utah, Florida etc). Even school like UIUC (53112) or Notre Dame (57505) that place way better in Chicago have a significantly lower COA. Depaul is a very expensive school but at least you get to live in Chicago.chrisbru wrote:Kinderby wrote:Yeah, even with the scholarship I got, it would be cheaper to go to another school I was accepted to at sticker (still waiting on scholarship info from them, but the sticker price being almost half of DePaul was eye-opening).denada! wrote:I'm in too! 25k/year.. but its still a pretty expensive school.

*all COA's derived from school's websites.

I guess I was thinking he meant cheaper tuition, not total COA. That makes sense then.

Mattfi88,
Do we receive an email or a letter in the mail?
I am hoping for a substantial scholarship.

Also judging from what has been said in this thread, it looks like status checkers update later that day and an email should be received with 48 hours. Scholarship info through USPS 7-10 days later.
I went complete on 1/31 and decision rendered today (2/7).

LSU, and that's counting their OOS tuition. Actually, that wasn't quite a fair example, because I don't know what COA for LSU is, but I'm sure Baton Rouge is cheaper than Chi-town.chrisbru wrote:Wow really? Withdrew today so hopefully my scholarship will be freed up for someone else who truly wants to go here. Good luck to all.
