+1. To leave my part of town I'd have to brave a number of hills so I'm holed up here indefinitely.CMDantes wrote:Beautiful snow day here in Austin. Everything is closed.
I love Texas weather, very mild winters, just cold enough to enjoy the occasional Friday off work or a white Christmas.
Roads are dangerous though, I just stay clear when it ices. People really don't know how to drive in these conditions, myself included.

Has anyone tried, or is trying, to negotiate scholarship amounts upward?

GULC and Penn ding me via e-mail within 20 minutes of each other! I'm very glad to say that Texas is looking more and more like my destination.

Anybody thinking of going down to the ASW on March 25/26th possibly interested in splitting a hotel room? Not sure that I'm going to be heading down to that one just yet, but it's more likely that I'll go if I can split the room-cost with somebody.

I would like to know this too. I wonder if a higher offer from UCLA would matter or if I should wait and see if I get anything from Cornell.forward wrote:I am currently. I'll let you know how it goes.r6_philly wrote:Has anyone tried, or is trying, to negotiate scholarship amounts upward?

That was what, like two weeks ago? I'm sure you'll hear soon, but relax and let them come to you! (169/3.73 in-state here, in with $$).

I bet you will (also, I wasn't bragging, just showing that you'll probably get in with $ too!)jrose5 wrote:Ok... thanks! Congrats on UT+$$! I hope to get in as well.akili wrote:nope.jrose5 wrote:170/3.76, submitted 1/10, complete 1/21... should I be worried that I haven't heard back yet...

Here's a thread where people are still waiting for their decisions. It's a good place to de-stress and you might get a better idea when you'll hear back (I haven't been keeping up lately). Also, people discuss football and BBQ.

One more indeed. I'm following too many as it is right now. What's the likelihood that the threads will be consolidated into one thread later on in the cycle?jrose5 wrote:

Zero. This thread is for admits, that thread is for applicants, and the C/O 2014 thread is for people who are thinking about/ people who have put down a seat deposit. Each thread is focused on a different conversation; no sense in merging em.

Although that sucks about the dings, I'm glad to see you're getting closer to making your decision on Texas!francisConn wrote:GULC and Penn ding me via e-mail within 20 minutes of each other! I'm very glad to say that Texas is looking more and more like my destination.
I may be completely biased, but I just don't see why anyone would leave Texas right now.
A couple of us who live in Austin should get together for drinks sometime. Anyone else into this?

Sup. I lost my license on New Year's and all I have is that paper one from the DPS that looks like a fake...so as soon as my legit (and horizontal!) license comes in I'm totally game.CMDantes wrote:Although that sucks about the dings, I'm glad to see you're getting closer to making your decision on Texas!francisConn wrote:GULC and Penn ding me via e-mail within 20 minutes of each other! So I will probably come for an individual visit. Any suggestions on what day of the week is best, and what to check out for a day or so?

Do you mean in Austin or just the law school? Austin has a lot of great stuff to check out. What kind of stuff would you be interested in? Museums/clubs/outdoorsy/food?r6_philly wrote:So I will probably come for an individual visit. Any suggestions on what day of the week is best, and what to check out for a day or so?

So I was accepted via voicemail on 1/26 with no mention of a scholarship. I have not received anything by mail yet. At this point, should I assume I'm not receiving anything?

I would give it a few more days. I had no mention of scholarship on mine and I got some $$. I'm not sure how long it took to get the scholly letter but it was awhile. I think I wrote it on my LSN profile. Hope that helps.whitman wrote:So I was accepted via voicemail on 1/26 with no mention of a scholarship. I have not received anything by mail yet.
