I also applied to PT evening program and got admitted. When I visit Kent for info session last Nov, the director from admission office told me regardless of day or evening PT, they go through same application process. One is definately not harder than the other. However, there will be only handful spots available for day time PT. She said they do not want to accept students who apply to PT programs because they are a bit easier on LSAT/GPA. They want to accept students with real jobs etc. If you want to apply to day PT program, you must write them a seperate letter indicating why it is essential for you to take day PT program.LaProfe14 wrote:roofles wrote:Unfortunately, I don't know anything about being admitted after being deferred. As for the PT program, I am a PT day student who is taking the same classes as the FT students less one class per semester (contracts in fall and legislation in spring). The PT schedule isn't as bad as expected, although any PT program is going to be rough if you work a FT job in addition to school. One bit of advice I would recommend is to attend PT evening if you have work experience. From what I am told, it is both easier and you are matched with more like-minded individuals.minimalvanity wrote:I'm a 1L PT at Kent
What did you write in your statement about why you wanted the day program/how long? Is it harder to get into the day program than the evening? I really wanted day, but I think I put evening on my app. i don't know if I could still tell them I want day.

I was accepted 12/17, didn't get my packet until 1/8... but the holidays in between probably didn't help.

Re: Chicago Kent - Prospective Class of 2014
wow...seriously why did it take so long? They DO deliver mails during the holidays except for Christmas. I better stop snooping around the mailbox then. It's frustrating since I live in Chicago and I can easily pick it up if they ask me to...miazdc wrote:netkorea06 wrote:How long did it take for you guys to receive admission packages after receiving acceptance email?

deferred as of 2/3. What is the deferral/reconsideration process that they say I'll receive in the mail in two weeks, any insight?

The deferred status basically means they have yet to make a decision on your application. So, its not quite a waitlist as they review them on a consistent basis. When I attended the open house they just emphasized to submit any additional information/updates to your application and that they may hold some deferred candidates until the summer. It is my top choice so I am really going to pursue this one. Good Luck!

Hey guys,
I really want to go to Chicago Kent and I believe a lot of you here want it too. However, I seem to hear so many negative comments, in fact haven't heard a single positive comment on going to law school outside of top 14 (even top 6). I am sure you guys are well aware of it as well. Everyone has their own reasons to go to law school regardless. What is yours?

2/3 deferred. Status checker said I was on the priority defer list.
Is there two deferred lists or is everyone on priority deferred list?
My guess is I was yield protect. I figured I was an auto admit with $$$. I did the survey they asked for.

I think as long as you write am email to the admission's office saying you want to attend Kent once you are admitted, they will pass you through with $$$beidoun wrote:2/3 deferred. Status checker said I was on the priority defer list.

I was also deferred but did not receive the 'priority defer list' note. Im guessing there are two deferred lists then? Bummer..beidoun wrote:2/3 deferred. Status checker said I was on the priority defer list.

I like Chicago Kent as well. Personally, I think that T14 or bust stuff is a little silly. I dont know though. Personally, "Big Law" doesnt sound like a whole lot of fun. Id be happy as a clam (I dont know what makes people think that clams are so happy) working a decent paying job working mid law. I keep telling myself that all the stress is from people trying to do the big law thing, and maybe mid law is still okish. So, Kent sounds fine to me. I'm not too worried. Love to hear everyone what others say as well.netkorea06 wrote:Hey guys,

Also, any thoughts about Kent? Love to hear some good stuff about the school to get me more excited about it.

I would like to hear more things about the school as well. I was accepted a couple of weeks ago. I won't be able to visit the school, so anyone who would like to give some insight or post pictures it would be great.

Re: Chicago Kent - Prospective Class of 2014
I'm thinking about possibly considering maybe taking a trip to Chicago over spring break (3 week of March I think). I'm considering schools in something like 5 metro areas, and Chicago is the only one that is feasible to visit. Plus I'm leaning toward Kent anyway. And my girlfriend wont stop talking about Chicago. So yeah.sgp_lycee wrote:I would like to hear more things about the school as well. I was accepted a couple of weeks ago. I'll document my trip like an annal-compulsive archeologist. But it'll be a little while.

Was anyone else out there 'deferred for further review' but did not get the priority deferred note? Any thoughts on this? Kent is my top choice and Im hoping I still have a chance.

Right here! I'm actually sitting in Union Station right now. I took a five hour train ride to visit the three. I start at Depaul at noon, I'll let you know how it goes! Good luck to everyone with this decision.. I feel that the three all look so similar on paper.aknecht wrote:in as of 2 weeks ago. 161/3.2 ugpa. time to choose between kent, LUC, and depaul. who else has to make this call?

Re: Chicago Kent - Prospective Class of 2014
Hello all.
I was accepted on their binding early decision program in December and have toured Kent as well Depaul, Loyola, and JMLS. Kent was far and away my favorite aesthetically and was certainly a much better atmosphere than the others. Depaul was cramped, old, and depressing and JMLS wasn't much better. Loyola was nice, but I much preferred Kent overall. If you guys want to read a short entry of my visit, check out the forum "Chicago-Kent tour" on here.
Good luck everyone

I have been accepted to about 16 schools so far and right now it comes down to Kent, DePaul, Denver, and UK. Kent and Denver are leading because they each offered me 20K a year.
Do you guys know how much cost of living is in Chicago?

$20-$25k is the average most Chicago law schools say
My sister went to Loyola about 5 years ago and she said it was about $22ish for her
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
Now there's a charge.
