LSP is a good gauge but how can I be a consider for a school that waitlist/rejects people with better numbers than I ? for example Iowa Nobody outside of URMs has gotten in in the past 2 years with numbers close to mine....logistikon wrote:if you are a consider on LSP then 25-49% are at/below your index # so.....Sandro777 wrote:How are you guys balancing applying to schools vs your likelihood of getting in / attendance?
Looking at last years LSN and not seeing anyone with my GPA admitted is kind of tough to justify throwing ~$70 out there. Especially when people with maybe a point higher on LSAT and .1 higher GPA get waitlisted.
I've got some apps (Iowa, Wisconsin, Alabama) that LSP gives me a Consider but LSN shows nobody getting in with my numbers/1 or 2 points higher lsat last year. These arent schools I'm dead set on attending but would like to consider them...

Just because there wasn't someone on LSN, doesn't mean NOBODY did.
I apologize for not hunting around for your numbers... But I was accepted to Iowa this year with a sub 3.0 GPA...

Splitter Love from MICHIGAN today
They are absolutely my first choice, so, even though I still have apps pending at Columbia, Duke, UVA, a couple of others, I'm pretty much considering my cycle over. Good luck to everyone still waiting!

Waitlisted at UIUC. Meh. There was very little chance I'd go there anyway.

Has anyone else just not heard anything from any of their schools? I'm starting to feel like a damn leper.

When did you submit your applications? And...what schools? Some schools don't respond until at least January to anyone.ccoons24 wrote:Has anyone else just not heard anything from any of their schools? I'm starting to feel like a damn leper.
Also, if it's any consolation I've noticed that a lot of schools like to take the reverse splitters first...pad those GPA medians.

Aw, well maybe there's hope, yet. I submitted in late October & went complete in early November. Applied to UGA, Georgia State, Tulane, South Carolina, Villanova, and Indiana-Bloomington.czelede wrote:When did you submit your applications? And...what schools? Outright ding from UVA ED today. 3.2/172. I know I got my stuff in a little late (Dec 15 because I was waiting for Michigan to deny me), but I wasn't expecting the outright ding. I know another >3.0 170 guy was outright dinged too, but foolishly thought the 2 points would protect me. Oh well, travel stipend from WUSTL today.
Anyone think it would be foolish to throw last minute apps to Cornell and GT? I don't know how I'd like GT, but I'm starting to fear I'll get shut out of the T14.

Re: 2010 Splitters Application Thread
I would if you want T14. Definitely send an app to Cornell ASAP, possibly hold out on GT if you want to ED later (they have a late ED deadline, I think? Somebody corrrect me if I'm wrong). GT ED may be your best shot at T14 at the moment, unless you have WE and aced your interviews with NU.Kabuo wrote:Outright ding from UVA ED today. 3.2/172. Re: 2010 Splitters Application Thread
I've noticed GT tends to be more forgiving to later applicants than other schools, maybe because the large class size doesn't fill up as fast. If you have the money I'd say send GT an app, cornell too. Can't hurt.Kabuo wrote:Outright ding from UVA ED today. 3.2/172. Re: 2010 Splitters Application Thread
You would say this, but it's just so hard to put yourself in those shoes as a splitter. You say that and it just makes me think, "let's swap, and then I'll just retake." I'm not trying to sound like a dbag either, I just think it sucks that you can't retake your GPA. Speaking out of ignorance, obviously, I would much rather be a reverse splitter.logistikon wrote:better than being a reverse splitterDieAntwoord wrote:I hate being a splitter............
