Yeah I'm interested in this too...I'm like a 4.35 which is rounded to a 4.4 on the LSAC report. I'd much prefer the rounding but I think they're a little more holistic than an index makes them out to be.

Still not complete and it's been almost 2 weeks...on another note, I submitted an update to a component of my application via email but have yet to hear back from Columbia acknowledging their receipt. Should I call them to check or assume that it's been updated? In an email they had said for me to email updates...

I've taken two LSATs--one a 165, one a 169. Any idea what Columbia will consider in coming up with my index score?

My problem with the index numbers for a school like CLS is that they give false hope to those with LSATs below the 170, who have very strong GPAs which put their indexes in the 4.3 range. Is this a fair concern, or is it still the case that if the LSAT is close to 170, and the GPA is strong enough to put the index in 4.3, the application has a shot?

That's exactly my issue. 169 LSAT, 4+ GPA. I just don't see it happening.

That sucks they round this down to 4.3 joining the rest of us. Oh well hopefully I would be excited about others schools by the time I hear back, so it won't be so bad if it is bad news.

Just sent my app in!
Applied to most schools late September to October but just withdrew my ED app from Penn so decided to give Columbia a shot.
173/3.65
Index: 4.313 but I have multiple LSATs.
Hopefully I'm not applying too late!

I don't know about the index. I have a slightly higher index but I think your changes are much better than mine.

S/he means 4.3's. Fixed before people get too excited.
lol yes, good catch

Law School Predictor says I have a 4.352 and I applied ED. Hopefully I've got a good shot at getting in. My softs are mediocre. Pretty good but not not amazing. Was the 3:1 getting in 3 ins to 1 out or vice-versa? >.>
Also the Columbia website says "Application Status: Completion Pending". Does that mean they're almost done reviewing my application or they're almost done receiving my application?
Thanks for helping me with my confusion!

I'm guessing almost done receiving, as a "complete" status means they have all of your materials and your application is ready for review.

Yeah, I think 4.3 is ~75% of acceptance if you ED, anecdotally.

Application=sent 5 seconds ago.
Whew. Columbia is the highest ranked school I applied, 3.85/170 (4.290 index, so close to that 4.3 threshold!).
@ Knock: your Stanford thread makes me want to throw my hat in the ring there and get rejected
Columbia=dream school, but still not sure if it's worth 200k of debt

So I just found a small error on my app
In the application form part, I have one employer listed with a different name as on my resume. I had worked for a venture capital firm and on my application form, I put the name of the startup I was helping with and on my resume, I put the name of the venture capital firm.
The name of the startup I was working with is on my resume too so they could put two and two together if they read both but should I do anything about the slight inconsistency?

This makes zero difference it my opinion. It will not break you and as far as they know you could have been working two jobs. I wouldnt worry about it.

Hurrah, I've just gone complete (at 8:05 pm... so is it an automated process or was someone working in the office then?)! Edited to add: submitted 10/29. Wait time was well over the 14 days estimated on the status checker.

Hm, true, maybe dream isn't the right word. I just haven't decided if any school is worth 200k in my situation, but getting into Columbia would be pretty sick.

Does anyone know if they're "completing" the ED files first and that's why the RD files are taking so long? >.<

This would be my guess--I've been at "completion pending" for over 2 weeks now (RD).
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
