I know in general most schools outside T6 (even if they say they don't) are starting to look at the higher score if you've taken it twice because thats what they report anyways. But I was wondering if anyone had an idea/story about what UF does?

I am retaking in october currently 164-166 pretty consistently. 159 on earlier LSAT.

It actually just changed and is substantially more difficult than it used to be to receive residency here now, afaik

Score as high as you can on the retake. Even if UF takes average, you are still within range.

I thought getting a DL and registering to vote were all you needed but mistergoft said it has recently changed so I'm actually not sure what you would need now.

I think you have to have a lease for a year or something. I never had to deal with it because I had residency but I'll do some research and get back to you.

(b) Except as otherwise provided in this section, evidence of legal residence and its duration shall include clear and convincing documentation that residency in this state was for a minimum of 12 consecutive months prior to a student's initial enrollment in an institution of higher education.
(c) Each institution of higher education shall affirmatively determine that an applicant who has been granted admission to that institution as a Florida resident meets the residency requirements of this section at the time of initial enrollment. The residency determination must be documented by the submission of written or electronic verification that includes two or more of the documents identified in this paragraph. No single piece of evidence shall be conclusive.
1. The documents must include at least one of the following:
a. A Florida voter's registration card.
b. A Florida driver's license.
c. A State of Florida identification card.
d. A Florida vehicle registration.
e. Proof of a permanent home in Florida which is occupied as a primary residence by the individual or by the individual's parent if the individual is a dependent child.
f. Proof of a homestead exemption in Florida.
g. Transcripts from a Florida high school for multiple years if the Florida high school diploma or GED was earned within the last 12 months.
h. Proof of permanent full-time employment in Florida for at least 30 hours per week for a 12-month period.
2. The documents may include one or more of the following:
a. A declaration of domicile in Florida.
b. A Florida professional or occupational license.
c. Florida incorporation.
d. A document evidencing family ties in Florida.
e. Proof of membership in a Florida-based charitable or professional organization.
f. Any other documentation that supports the student's request for resident status, including, but not limited to, utility bills and proof of 12 consecutive months of payments; a lease agreement and proof of 12 consecutive months of payments; or an official state, federal, or court document evidencing legal ties to Florida.

Looks like it's a factors test, I'd call admissions and ask what they typically require.

and even if you do you will most likely end up attending at sticker. And who wants to pay sticker for a school like UF?

Actually, if I can obtain in-state residency status after my first year, I would not mind paying sticker, which is only ~$15K.

Yeah, the florida legislature permitted all state universities to raise their tuition by 15% per year for an indeterminate amount of time. UF has been taking full advantage every year. When I applied, tuition was 12800....

Tuition increases are put into place by the Florida Legislature, which pushed for the 15% increase in graduate and law programs. As far as I know, graduate programs do not have an automatic increase like undergrad programs.

For undergrad, the universities are allowed to increase tuition until they hit the median price for public education at universities in the US. Additionally, UF and FSU are allowed to raised prices more quickly than other schools.

Although, that price tag is still acceptable IMO. I am CA resident, and in-state tuition at California schools such as Davis hovers around 30K.

All of the information I can find just describes the total amount (e.g. 2010-2011 tuition $16,386 instate and $35,751.30 out of state). I can't find anything concerning the breakdown of this amount. I have a feeling this is intentional. I say this because when I attended the Road Map Seminar my tour guide said tuition for him was around 12 grand. He also says it varies from person to person due to the credits you take and whatnot.

There is a big difference between 12 and 16 grand for instate tuition and regardless I think it is a pretty acceptable price tag; however, I really feel like those numbers are the totals including all the fees and stuff that some people might not need (i.e. that number does not represent the cost for tuition alone).


If anyone knows for sure/can verify it would be much appreciated....

Has anyone seen any movement? My online status checker says "all required documents received" but its been that way for awhile now. Does UF send out emails for completed files, or does that mean the file is complete?

Same here. I assume that it means completed, but maybe others can confirm this. Isn't UF one of the "slow" schools?

Yes they won't even look at applications until mid/late November. This means your file is complete.
