Re: IU Indianapolis Applicants' Thread
went in review today! has anyone else applied part time? my numbers are 153 3.3, their median lsat last year was 151 for PT on LSAC ABA data sheet but when I called they said their median last year was 153 and that is what they are looking for this year too...
does anyone know how good of a prospect you would have of transferring into top 50 schools from here?

Chants wrote:I agree with the sentiments above, but I can only assume that Indy must have a good number of offers out to prospective students at this time and/or are satisfied with the state of this year's admissions process thus far (in terms of potential students matriculating) as compared to years past. I can't imagine they are leaving potential candidates in limbo for no reason, especially at the risk of losing worthy applicants. Maybe application #'s are up? Maybe they have received a larger # of seat deposits thus far this year? Maybe the LSAT/GPA #'s of applicants are more competitive this year?
Either way, I know the waiting is terrible so I hope you all hear well before May!
This may have been stated earlier on this thread, so I apologize if it was. I spoke with someone in admissions back in mid-March (I believe it was Patricia), because I too was wondering why my app was still marked complete for over 10 weeks. She informed me that they group applicants based on an index number calculated via LSAT/GPA. First, they review applicants with an index number above a certain cutoff (She wouldn't say what the cutoff was), and below a certain cutoff. All others are grouped into the middle. Based on the seat deposits they receive in April, they will then begin to review applicants in the middle group to fill the remaining seats. Personally, I feel that this is a bad way of doing things, but I'm not the one calling the shots. I hope this answers some questions.

I guess they have a pile where the apps at 75%, median, and 25%. I guess it kinda makes sense.

Does anyone know if they give out scholarship money to people in the part time program. I have a 3.75 GPA and a 165 LSAT. I'm applying next year to their part time program and would like some scholarship money since I'm above their 75% in both GPA and LSAT.

I know someone personally who got a full ride for the PT program. I believe they will want to be convinced that you will stay in the PT program for the four year duration though, as I do not believe they are obligated to transfer the scholarship to FT should you switch.btown wrote:Does anyone know if they give out scholarship money to people in the part time program. I will definitely be staying part time. I will be 30 when I start law school and have a family to take care of. Do you know what your friends #'s were and if there were any stipulations.

I do not remember specifically what his numbers were. He is a non-URM and would have gotten a scholarship FT as well, I remember that. I THINK his stip was to stay above median, measured against only the PT students.btown wrote:I will definitely be staying part time. Still "In Review" 3/23, applied in like Feb, this is getting a little ridiculous. Did people seriously receive an email about waiting till May for decisions?
At this point idrc because I'm for certain retaking and applying UTK next cycle, but dammit I pretty much just wanna know.

Waitlisted via e-mail today for the PT program. This blows! My numbers are above their median so this should not have happened!

Yes, I submitted a deposit w/ Mississippi College. I balked on Hamline, St. Thomas -MN, and 8 other schools.. but if one of the WL schools would admit me, then I would be super happy. MC Law isn't bad, just nervous about Mississippi as a whole.

I received my decision letter within about a week of going under review as well. No worries!

Re: IU Indianapolis Applicants' Thread
Has anyone that didn't apply early admit received scholarship notifications? I have been admitted for a few months now, but no notice of any type of merit-based or donor-based awards. Just curious!

According to the Admitted Students section of the webpage, all admitted students who will be receiving merit aid have been notified-
Admitted students receiving merit-based awards through the Admissions Office will be sent a notification letter apart from their admissions letter. Award decisions will be made throughout the spring. Awards may not appear on your Financial Aid Award Summary in OneStart, but will appear directly on your bursar statement as a credit. All award decisions have been made at this time. Any questions regarding merit awards may be directed to Amanda Gallaga, agallaga@iupui.edu.

Thanks for responding. I spoke to Amanda on Monday, and she said she would be sending out notifications "hopefully by the end of this week"--I'm not sure how long that little tidbit has been on the website, but I'm going to remain hopeful that maybe she sent a notice in the mail? I don't think my stats are bad enough to not get anything whatsoever (158/3.79)...? Maybe I just applied too late in the game.Chants wrote:According to the Admitted Students section of the webpage, all admitted students who will be receiving merit aid have been notified-
