Re: Cornell EA Deferred Crew
I posted this in the main Cornell thread too, but what about visiting? I'm in NYC, so it's a long drive but do-able. I was thinking of maybe visiting next week and hand-delivering my LOCI. Bad idea?

Re: Cornell EA Deferred Crew
The letter said to contact them right? In other news, I found out they aren't going to look at my December LSAT...said that they don't like looking at more than two scores and that my previous scores are enough to show my abilities. Darn. I guess that could be good and bad. Either way, I'm going to send my LOCI right after I find out my LSAT score. If it's a 165+ I'll send a copy of the grade with a letter saying that this demonstrates my real potential. Anything less? Well...I'll just send a letter of interest.
I got an F in a course so I can't send my transcript. In fact, I'm goin to wind up turning my final a week late. I decided to study for the LSAT rather than do the paper. I still think it was a good trade since I thought I did well on the test. The schools won't see my transcript yet anyway - and I'm taking 24 hours of credit by the time I go to Cornell, so if my professor doesn't take it, then I''ll be able to rectify it with a slew of A's next semester.
It just sucks because I milked everything for my initial application. Why Cornell. LOR's. A long resume. All I have is one more LOR, an LSAT they don't want to look at, and my own skills as an editorialist. Those are pretty good odds.

Re: Cornell EA Deferred Crew
I sent a LOCI about two days after I was deferred. I will probably send a "why cornell" statement when I have some time and keep my fingers crossed for a better December LSAT score.

would anyone mind posting the address specified in the letter? I'm not home to receive the mail. Any other pertinent info?
edit: nm. my roommate went home and I had her read the letter to me.

Just found out that I also got put on reserve. Not even sure what to submit additionally, since I already wrote a 1-page "Why Cornell" for them instead of 3 lines.

Re: Cornell EA Deferred Crew
i believe the cornell office is using the terms interchangeably. if you applied EA and didn't get accepted or rejected, your app was placed on reserve, meaning deferred to be reviewed with the non EA applications.beamsmehome wrote::: pulls up a seat ::
MirandaHobbes, I think I'm going to respond via email, because I think the letter (at least the one I got) seemed to encourage that. I'm in the Northeast and our mail got delayed because of the snowstorm so I just got it the other day; will probably send it after Christmas.
Could someone clarify - what's the deal with the reserve/deferred language? Are there two different lists going on here? Sorry if this was already covered in the 170+ Cornell room. Any info would be appreciated, thank you.

Ah- a place to call home.
Why they bothered to ask me to go EA, I'll never know. I mean, I understand that it was probably just an administrative thing, but it kind of got my hopes up.
Bah.

Re: Cornell EA Deferred Crew
I'm bummed out not to be in for Christmas, but I'll take what I can get as well. My theory is the as reserve people with awesome numbers get in better places they will withdraw or just not bother with LOCIs. And the people who applied later (late December onwards) sort of seem like the "don't quite have their act together" type. So it seems likely lots of us will be moving off this list. Especially Dec/Feb LSAT retakers. I still have real hope we'll be moving to Ithaca in August.gymboree wrote:home with the deferred crew.... and happy about it. it's a reach for me, so happy to stay in the game!

Do you plan to send the entire paper or what? I am getting published but not sure of the best way to inform Cornell. Input would be great.Hopefullawstudent wrote:I'm going to write a 1 page Why Cornell, send them an additional LOR, and a copy of the publication I work on. I may also send them a treat!

I may send them them the masthead from the publication and maybe the cover, but probably not the entire thing.ppa840 wrote:Do you plan to send the entire paper or what? Also, my parents are strongly discouraging me from sending them food or anything that may resemble a bribe (even though on Michigan's FAQ page, the Dean specifically mentions a time when a girl sent her cookies and how it was a "nice touch".) Damn.
I also had a realization the other night that I really could have written a better PS about something completely different. I may submit a truncated PS that talks about that thing I forgot to mention.

At least I'm in good company here.
I'm going to send in a ton of homemade baked goods as a bribe.
I'm kidding... or am I?

I'm going to send them a crude sketch of the law school building and on the back it will say "there's a lot more where this came from... if you go to the dance with me.."Katerina wrote:At least I'm in good company here.

Re: Cornell EA Deferred Crew
Does anyone use their LOCI as a sort of Why Cornell essay? I mean it seems pretty similar. Has anyone submitted addenda on their GPA? Cornell was one of my earlier apps and I hadnt read the interview on TLS about how they welcome such addenda.

My LOCI was sent alongside my fee waiver request yesterday. My LOCI was...a little different. I had a Why Cornell already and there's nothing new that I can tell them.
