Re: In decision purgatory... Cornell 'Reserve' List
From what Ive heard, just above no chance in hell. The University's endowment has decreased a good bit this year (ive heard everything from 15% to 30%) and the Law School's endowment (which is separate) doesn't even reach $150M as it is. Combined with the fact that most of the operating budget comes from tuition, and the fact that most (if not all) aid is given out to people who file the financial aid forms before the deadline (you can't if you are on reserve--you'll still be eligible for loans, but that's not too much comfort, I take it), you're unlikely to get any merit aid. That said, I know at least one person (and know of several more) who are paying sticker here at Cornell. It's a big investment, sure, but assuming you do well, and don't mind a couple of years of biglaw purgatory (or our PILIPP, which is fantastic), it's a damn good investment.woopwoop wrote:getting money after being accepted off reserve: unlikely or no chance in hell?

Curious - did everyone who's on reserve find out via mail, or did your status change online?

On reserve too. The way I figure, it wont hurt to stay on until a decision is granted. Put a deposit down on the school you would attend if rejected at Cornell and wait it out. If you do get in and decide to lose your deposit, what's $500 considering what we're going to pay for Cornell?

PILIPP = public interest low income protection program. More info here: http://www.lawschool.cornell.edu/admiss ... etails.cfmwoopwoop wrote:sorry - PILIPP?
Long story short, Cornell will cover a percentage of your loans if you work in a public interest field, based on the amount of money you make, and the amount thereof you are expected to contribute towards your loans. The Financial aid folks call it a back-end scholarship.

Reserve here, too. Looks like it's longer than a long shot. Good luck to everyone.

Re: In decision purgatory... Cornell 'Reserve' List
Those are the measures I'm taking. Anyone have any idea as to how to proceed with LORs? Should we forward the one's we have on file with LSAC, or now that we're on reserve can we have an employer recommender send them directly to the admissions office?narfkarta wrote:Just out of curiosity, what steps have u gys been taking to try to get off the reserve? loci, rec letters , etc ?

Ha, no, I meant that when I posted this thread originally, I had been put on reserve from EA, then told a few weeks ago that I was STILL on reserve and would be re-reviewed in May. Hence, 'reserve' 'reserve'

I'm confused. My letter looked like another 'reserve'= hold letter, not a waitlist letter.
Is 'reserve' at this point waitlist for Cornell?

We shall see.animalcrkrs wrote:Ha, no, I meant that when I posted this thread originally, I had been put on reserve from EA, then told a few weeks ago that I was STILL on reserve and would be re-reviewed in May. Re: In decision purgatory... Cornell 'Reserve' List
When I called a few weeks back I was told it was not a waitlist. They have sent out acceptances, denials and waitlists, and still have spots open. I was told they will be making another round of decisions sometime in may, at which point those who received the "reserve" letter will either be accepted, denied, or placed on the real waitlist.animalcrkrs wrote:I'm confused. I've withdrawn. No sense in hanging out in purgatory hoping to get into hell.

I also withdrew late last week. While AdComms make decisions anticipating such attrition, genuine seats may still be open or will open up in the coming weeks. I'm sure some of you will get in. Good luck!!!!!!thrillhouse wrote:I withdrew today. I hope that helps one of you.
